VHF for Sale
VHF for sale. Standard Horizon GX1500S. A fine radio with DSC that I bought 2 years ago. Then, I decided I wanted the new model with AIS system so I replaced it. Works great and I have the instruction manual. Black. $100 + shipping.

Can you say wether or not the mmsi number has been programmed into the radio or not?

Beginning on March 25th, 2011, the Federal Communications Commission will prohibit the manufacture, importation, sale and installation of fixed mounted (non-portable) digital selective calling (DSC) equipped marine radios that do not meet the requirements of International Telecommunications Union (ITU-R) Recommendation M.493-11 or higher, and in the case of Class D VHF DSC equipment only, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) International Standard 62238. Therefore, after March 25, 2011, radios built to RTCM Standard SC-101 can no longer be manufactured, imported, sold or installed; however, previously-installed radios meeting the older standard may continue to be used.

FYI: The Standard Horizon GX1500S offered for sale in this thread, is a Class D radio, so may be re-sold under this regulation. This is a great radio, and is the same one I have in my boat.

Re: VHF for Sale
Thanks for that. I love the radio...just wanted the new model with the AIS built in. I fish the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The radio has the MMSI number already programmed in. But, a person can go on the BOAT/US website and update the information. In fact, I did just that so I could figure out if it is doable. IT is. I changed all my contact data to 208-000-0000. I changed the make and model of my boat, I changed my address....everything. That way, with my log-on name and password, the buyer can change to his/her heart's delight.
I obtained a new MMSI for the new radio, so the GX1500's number stays with it.
I figured with this system, the buyer would not have to reprogram the radio, just change the information associated with it.

Re: VHF for Sale
By the way HotWire, During the first week in January, there was a guy in Fisherman's Supply picking your brain about tuna fishing. You were buying Plano boxes. That would be me!
