Default Titanium rod??????

Have fished the Lamiglas Esprit and love it, but was thinking of trying out the Titanium rod for increased sensitiivity. Any advice to this new member would be appreciated. Im really trying to justify my wallet being four bill's lighter!!!

You'll love it for drift fishing. First cast I made with one I hooked up on the Clack.

Skrimmy,

Ive been watching this site for over a year now, and to think I could have put one past you guys. I should have known better.

I was born and raised in Oregon and plan on dying here too. ( just not anytime soon ) To many fish to hook! Ive been fishing for salmon and steelhead for near 18 years, but have been hooking them for the last seven!

As far as a fish story....The most recent one that comes to mind would be two steelhead hooked on the Deschutes last Tuesday. One fish went 36" and the other 38" ( and that 38 was a pig! ) Took both fish on home cooked #5 spinners. The B run is here and life is good.

I just dont know if it's good enough to spend $400.00 on a new rod!!! Thanks for the welcome.....TYEE-Fisher

Hey TYEE-FISHER and welcome a board!
I was looking at getting a few more Lamiglas rods for myself. I own 9 of them now.
I had my eye on that Esprit model EC 96 LS 9 foot 6 inches 6 to 10 pound test. I was thinking that would be a killer steelhead rod.
I own 3 of the Norwest special fishing rods made by Lamiglas. And lets just say I love them.
Representing the ultimate value in an authentic, American-made salmon/steelhead rod. These rods feature pearl-blue blanks, aluminum oxide guides, graphite reel seats with cushioned hoots and Portuguese's cork grips.
The 8-12 for steelhead and lite silver fishing.
The 10-20 I think is the best around rod for drifting for salmon and steelhead.
The 12-25 works killer for when you need that extra back bone when playing with a hog Chinook. Also a good boat rod.
For my 2 cents I would go for the model N 386 MHC 8 foot 6 inches 10-20 line WT.
These rods run very cheap price tag but I think are some of the most sensitivity rod made for the price. They also made to last. I have really put my 3 to the test and right now they have been passing for many years now. I have paid no more then 80 dollars for my 3 but I know people  .
They go on sale all the time all over the place from any were from $90 to $110.
The G200 series are also very nice rods and very sensitivity rods. They also have a really good price tag on them.
DO NOT GET A ROGUE ROD!!! I had a Rogue rod made for me for steelhead fishing. At first I thought that it was going to be my new best friend. The *** broke on me when fighting a very small Chinook. Like a very small 10 pound dark Chinook. That dark fish broke the upper half of my rod. I had just got the rod. I'm not thinking I'm going back to using Rogue rods. I have talked to many people that have had them brake on them.
I'm sorry, I just can fish with a rod that I don't have confidence in. LAMIGLAS ALL THE WAY!!!

Ive fished the EC 96LS Esprit. Smokin rod for big water. Great distance for casting & a kick to fight a fish on. Esprit rod hands down is the my favorite ( not ever owning a custom made ). Still curious to see how that Ti2000 would fish.

Im with you....Lamiglas all the way!!!

Oh I'm getting me that Esprit 96 rod. I'm thinking bobber and jig+winter steelhead=a show off.
The Ti are very good rods. Like you said "$400 dollars for one is up there".

Welcome aboard, Tyee-Fisher. As for your question, a titanium rod would undoubtedly be very sensitive. However, is it four times as sensitive as a $100 rod?

How much of a squeeze would this put on your wallet? Do you already have all the rods you need for all the types of fishing you do? Would like to do? If you could not fish without worrying about your rod then it would probably be a poor investment. Rods take a lot of knocks.

What about theft? Could you stop at the bait mart without worrying about your gear in the truck?

Rods are tools just like a hammer. Would this grade of tool make you that much more effective? More than two TH custom rods? Or two Calcuttas?

Do you want a titanium rod because you need extra sensitivity or because you could say I got him with my Ti?

Its your money.

I too am an avid Lami guy and love my esprite 96 as well as all of my other Lamiglas's!!

I think the titanium feels great but don't own one. I haven't been able to convince myself I am going to get that much more satisfaction for my money.

They are making a new series called the "Rogue River Special" and have just put out a 9', 6 to 12 lb. that I fished for the first time last Sat. and love it. It hasn't landed a fish for me but I am planning on making that happen in the next couple days.

They are also making this in 8'6" spin and cast 10 to 25 as well as a 7'6" "half-pounder" side drifting spin in 6 to 15......... awesome rods!

When I have the money, I will have a titanium. I would say they are 4 times as sensitive as any other rod out there. The titanium amplifies the vibration, so you will feel everything from a small rock to a tree stump and hopefully a bite! Go to Fisherman's or wherever and do the voice box test. I guarantee you the titanium will be the most sensitive rod in the store. However I don't think they catch any more fish than any other rod, so its definetly a luxury purchase.

I like my Titanium. It's hard to imagine, but that light of a rod makes a big difference on an all-day fishing bender. It's also super-sensitive.

Is it worth the price? That's up to you.

I love my two Titaniums - one for steelhed and the other for salmon. The salmon unit replaced my beloved Kenai Special. It's much lighter and super sensitive. You can fish all day and not get fatigued. They handle big fish with no fear of breaking.

A buddy of mine recently built a titanium rod that turned out really nice. You might save some dough if you had one built.

Put the word "Titanium" on about anything these days and it sells stuff. At higher prices too. I agree with the guy that mentioned a good custom rod by TH. I think they can get the best of the loomis blanks and also the new super high modulous Rainshadow graphite blanks too. Then you can get 2 great rods for the price of 1 titanium rod that wont catch more fish. Just my 2 cent opinion but its a strong one!

A skilled angler can catch more fish on a stick and string than a newb can catch on a $500 rod.

I have actualy fished the Ti rods each year... I build a few and them sell them at the end of th year as I do with everything. (the 8' 8-17# and the 9'2" 6-15# last year....
They are nice.. very nice.. retail is $400? I can do better than that! .. ouch!

If you have never fish one, they do have a different feel.. a bit butt stiff.. ? we had one guy buy one and bring it back the next week.. we said he didn't lke it.. I think his wife found the check stub

They are very nice rods... go wiggle ne at fishermans and then gve me a call!
