New member!
Hello,
Just wanted to say Hi. Although I am just now becoming a member to Ifish, I have looked in on you guys & gals for probably over a year now. I enjoy the fishing reports along with the humor brought with it, and hope to contribute some woppers of my own in the future. I am mostly in persuit of Sea going stuff, thus the name. My favorite by far being Steelhead. My friends and I fish mostly the Columbia, Snake, Deschutes, & S. Santiam. I run a 24' Oakes boat that is big green & ugly, so if you see me don't be afraid to give out a shout!
Thanks for letting me in on the fun

Re: New member!
welcome aboard and get a sticker for that boat. you might have to write a fishing story as that is customary when you join.

Re: New member!
Welcome aboard, AJ. Glad you decided to give up your lurking ways. As you can see, the natives demand a story!

Re: New member!
Well, here goes?
I'm not much of a story teller, but here is a true to life one.
It was August and my buddies and I headed for the Lower Deschutes for a Steelhead trip. We get to the ramp, load enough gear in my sled to overpower a tug boat, and head down river. About five minutes into the trip I start to turn across the chop (or should I say try to turn), and realize that we are not turning! After a brief moment of confusion it occurs to me that something is broke and we are scr%%ed! Luckily the boat pointed itself toward the bank and I was able to motor in to safety. After about an hour of trying to take apart the helm we give up and start DRINKING! It gets better! Meanwhile up at the ramp my friend Mike Boyd and his buddy (who flew from PA to fish the Deschutes) is waiting for us. Needless to say there wasn't much fishing accomplished that trip. The next moorning my friend Mike Smith from M&G oufitters come up to help and devised a way to get home. Long story short I clamped a pair of vise grips to the broken end of the steering cable and drove out! I guess if you play enough that kind of stuff happens? PS a 22' Wooldridge doesn't row very well
