Default Extra time

I've got the rest of the day off any ideas on where to go locally to catch a few fish? I don't care what kind today (trout at hagg, bass sandy silvers) just can't drive too far. Ideas?? Anyone??

It all depends on what you mean by "Not Driving Too Far". Sounds like best bet for a silver is at Cedar Creek Hatchery Hole on the Sandy. If you don't know how to get there, take US26 East to the town of Sandy (45 minutes from Beaverton). Hang a left on Ten Eyck Rd., then follow signs to the hatchery. Park at the hatchery in front of the concrete fish raceways, then walk down the trail towards the woods. When you get to the end of the pasture/fence on your right, hang a right (this is the least difficult path) and follow it to the water. If you don't make this right turn, you have to use a rope tied to a tree to scale a steep bank down to the river. Once you hit the river, turn left and walk downstream until you hit Cedar Creek (100 yards). Thats where the fish are, and maybe not too crowded on a weekday.

Good luck.

OK, how about trout at Lost Lake in Clatsop State Forest. Take US26 West to mile marker 27. There is a turnoff there for logging roads (can't miss it). After that, you would need a Gazzeteer or good topo map to find the rest of the way - but it is about 7 miles on logging roads to get to the lake from the highway. Lake is loaded with hatchery trout, and lots of steelhead broodstock "retired" from the hatchery. Good place for a float tube or pontoon if you have it, but ample bank fishing too.
