Default Need some opinions on this rod

I'm thinking of getting a Fenwick HMG 8'6" medium action rod. I found one used but in really good condition for a low price and don't really want to throw down $150-250 for something like a Loomis or Lamiglas yet. I need something for bank drift fishing that I can also use for throwing spinners, etc.

depends on the price but i would not pay more than 70$ as you can get them new for 90 in cabelas. i think fenwick is a nice rod and will do just fine.

HMG is a very nice rod. I have an HMX and it is the best rod for the price I've owned. I've never held a Fenwick rod that I didn't like.

I not sure which model you are looking at but I have owned a couple of Fenwick rods. I have an 8'6" that has a rating something like 8 to 12 lbs. I got it for winter Steelhead. I still have it but I have it replaced once and had the tip replaced once. I had it blow up Shad fishing. I was only using a light weight with a spoon. I got the Shad about to the boat when the rod exploded into sections about a foot long. It was replaced with out question. The new one had to have the tip replaced. I have no trouble since then.
