Default Nehalem fishing story

Fished the Nehalem on Sat., it was a pretty slow day. We fished from sun up to sun down out by the jaws of the jetty.

The incoming tide was not real good, saw about 5 fish netted for 25 to 40 boats. The outgoing tide was better but it was a salad fest. Every 5 minutes we had enough salad to fill a five gallon bucket.

I hooked 7 fish   , 6 were really nice native coho  around the 12 to 18 pound  size, all had to be released.

The 7th fish was big  , I fought him for around 15 minutes before he broke off. I never did get a look at him. But when fishing that close to the breakers on an outgoing tide and the fish spools ya into the breakers , I think he has the advantage.

I did all I could to keep that boat right on the edge of the breakers and try to fight that fish, but he broke off and I was not moving in the right direction  , had to fire up the big motor.

What a rush, all in all it was a pretty fun day.
