Default Kalama Report?

I've been invited to fish the Kalama on Wednesday. Anybody been up there recently?

Default Re: Kalama Report?

Was up there last weekend (10/1) , SNAGGERS everywhere!! It was really bad. We were getting the oddest looks for using bait.....But on a positive note my wife did catch her first salmon, a beefy 30lb buck. He wasnt chrome, but no where near a boot yet! (definately smoked good!) We were using 2/0 red gamie and a Red/Pink prawn tail, with about 2 feet of leader and a sliding weight. Fished just on the edge of the deeper holes,(river was very low, had to push myself off the sand once or twice to get down towards the mouth) "Holes" are about 6-8 feet deep. should get the attention you are looking for! Best part was my wife beaming at the launch telling people you really can catch fish with bait!

Most of what we saw were getting pretty dark...not sure if the Kalama gets any thing bright this time of year. Maybe the rains will help??? Have fun, and stay clear of those snaggers!!! One boat looked like the cast of americas most wanted! RIP, CAST, RIP.......sickening!
