Default Fishing pond near Tillamook

We'll be over on the coast this weekend and my six-year old son is dying to get his new trout pole in the water. There is a pond in this area that I know is stocked (name withheld). It has the same name as a boat launch on a nearby river. My question is, is the pond public property and is it located adjacent to the launch (I've drifted the river from this point, but don't recall seeing a pond)? I've looked on the satellite map, but I can't tell if it's the same spot. Lastly, any suggestions for bait? Thanks so much... I'll post a pic if he lands one...

Green power bait has been the ticket for kids fishing in Hebo lake & Town Lake. Both were stocked before spring break. I can't speak to Hebo but Town has been fished really hard by kids & cormorants since the stocking.

Lorens Drift pond is a good place to take some kids. The bank access isn't the greatest, but with a small crowd is managable. Also Cape Mears Lake is a good bet with a lot of bank access, but you'll fight the wind almost the entire time on most days. One of my favorite lakes to head up to is called Lake Tahoe located in the upper Trask basin. You should be able to get ahold of ODFW for directions is you are wanting. If you are wanting to hike a little bit, we used to hike into East Beaver Lake and bank fish that, but it is lacking in bank access as well. Some options for you.

Loren's pond (Loren Parks) is a great place and ODFW is working on making it even better. Loren Parks might even help.

Here's ODF&W's stocking schedule:

Looks like Cape Mears lake and Lake Lytle get quite a few fish

Here's directions from ODF&W:

Good job getting the kids out

Lake Lytle has some dock access in Rockaway, and Cape Meares Lake has a bit of shore access.

Thanks to all for your input. I've been in Garibaldi the past few days and scouted your suggestions. The family arrives today, so I'll take my boy out tomorrow and wet a line. Cheers!
