Default Would you be interested in a total roll call in Portland?

Would you be willing to pay for a nice buffet for Christmas, bring a fishing gift for a needy child and come celebrate?

If this gets pulled off, I'm going to need tons of help.
I really want to do it!
Our own banquet!!!

We should even have awards for long standing members, etc.

Anyone interested in taking a major roll in organizing an event like this, please post here, and contact me.

Thanks!
Jen

I would love to help organize this. (you just cant call the organizers a pigmittee I wouldnt want that label to follow me around )

Of course I would get to tell member #402 where he has to sit, or I am not interested.

And what was wrong with the pigmittee?

OK - it's unanimous (well, one out of one counts as unanimous- right?), we should do a breaklunchdinsupp (hosted by the breaklunchdinsuppmittee), regular old feast of kings! (speaking of Kings- are we having bbq Chinook?).
Lets all get the opinions out here. Speak now or forever hold your rod.

I am hungry for oysters. I have said that before on ifish. I was going to get my fix this weekend on clams and oysters. But with the red tide.. I am forced to go on a hay ride with the kids.

Count on Gini and I showing up. We felt so bad about having to miss the ifishstock. I will help in any way I can. Just ask.

You might want to get a rough head count asap. Trying to book a place this time of year can be difficult with all of the company Christmas parties scheduled. For our company Christmas parties, we would have to book almost a year in advance.

WHy dont you do it During the FEB fishing Sportsmans show? Mabie you can get a small area sectioned off for ifishers or somthing? Im sure its proably expensive to get into the show but mabie a trade for some advertising for the show here on the Site?
If not, is IFISH going to have a booth at the Show or your name on the Shows flyer or program? More exposure equals more hits = more advertising revenue, but im sure you knew that.

I can't do the thing on Tues EVENING... I have to do lunch. Jen can't drive at night, still. :depressed:

Anyway, if anyone can make it Tuesday Lunch, I'd love to.

Also, the Sportsman show is a great idea.... Except we couldn't do the Christmas thing for kids... but you know, considering all, the time involved in planning, the business of the season, perhaps it's better to do it in February. I always stay at a motel nearby anyway, and I'd be in town at that time.
I've always been in the booth with Salmon Master Guide Service, and I would bet I'll be there again.
Anywho.... Sorry about Tuesday Evening... Unless I decide to stay in town, which means tons of arrangements for kids, etc, I don't know that it will work. I'll talk to Bill when he gets home.

Lets make sure we leave enough time before Christmas to distribute any gifts and to allow those of us with family commitments at Christmas to still attend and participate. I would be happy to contribute to the project but am a bit aways and work weekends! Let me know if I can help.

It's the weekend.... s l o w as always.

Here's my latest thought.
I like the Sportsman show week idea.

I also thought we could do a more casual get together for donating to Christmas kids before Christmas... Like a pizza get together at a hall somewhere in Portland.

Firehall? Dance Hall? School hall?

Jen,

I agree. Getting a hall or banquet room for the holidays would be really tough. You need a specific head count for dinner, prepaid, etc. Everywhere that can handle a crowd of 150 or more is booked far in advance. People are so busy with family and work parties, I just wonder how many would actually make it when you set the date and price.

February is a much more relaxed month. If you do it in association with the show, I think results will be better.

February is a slow month for fishing too. About the only thing running are the smelt.

Jen,

I just got back to town, and I think it's a great idea! I also vote for the Feb venue around the Sportsman's Show. Maybe instead of a tackle-swap/auction we could have "how-to" demonstrations for rigging - everything from herring to hand-lines. I know there's a lot I'd like to learn from my fellow ifishers, and while auctions can raise some money, they really add a lot of complexity to an evening. Besides, with an auction everybody has to quit visiting with each other and pay attention to the auctioneer. Is that what we want from the evening?

My 2 cents.

Count Stacey and I in, hopefully I won't book myself and screw this up like the ifishstock party.

February would be a great time, will be going stircrazy about then and will need to unwind.
