Default Bent Prop

OK ... I hit a mud flat in the lower Columbia and broke my prop. Got home fine and took the prop off and noticed that the splined shaft was dry (no grease) When I put the new prop on should the shaft have grease on it ???
Thanks .....Big Dave.

Yes. You need to use a high presure grease though. Anything else will be pointless.

Dave, was it hard to remove? Antiseize is your friend on an outboard. Use the silver colored antiseize or a good quality grease on the splines. Clean everything ( innie and outie ) first with a wire brush. This will make the next prop swap much easier.

I prefer to use non metalic anti-seze if I am going to be in saltwater (one more metal in the soup). Waterproof grease works well too.
