Default Re: Cataraft question..

do some searches on the archives (hit the pull down and select 2001 archive and 2000 archive). there's lot's of good info and about forty five minutes worth of reading there. i thought about getting one myself but ended up with a drift boat. at the end of the day, you still have to face the shuttle back up to where you put in. with a drifter, i have a better chance of staying comfortable and alive. one thing the pontoons will do better is the low waters of summer.

zomonster,, i fished out of a bucks bags southfork 2 for the last 6 years,, stable as you can get.. i used mine for flyfishing when i lived in spokane, later for salmon and steelhead after i moved here,, 6 foot oars and a 15 lb anchor work great in tidewater..

the best part is you can throw it over the bank just about anywhere. if it's just you then dont spend all that money on a boat. i have a driftboat now so i can take my girlfriend and the dog.

if you want to try one out before you buy i shoot me an email.. i'm not using mine these days.. bf

I have heard they are pretty stable also. I believe there is one for sale under boats for sale on this site, might be sold but you could ask the seller how he liked it.

Good luck,
AL

Default Cataraft question..

It's obvious most of you have more experience fishing then I do. I've been knocking around the idea of buying one of those small catarafts, the ones with the 9 foot pontoons and all the bells and whistles.

With all the private property, and not in the position to buy a boat, I've been fishing from the bank for a number of years with limited success. Not to mention the crowds at times.

So here's the question. What do you folks think about them. All the information on the internet say they are excellent and safe as well. The one I am looking at is a Fish Cat 9 with a capacity of 350lbs and all the bells included. Are they really safe? What about ease in handling?

Any comments would be great. I hope someone either owns one or has in the past. Thanks in advance...
