Default Herring that has been in brine

Last Monday I put a batch of herring in brine for the next day's trip. Robert, demanded that I leave my gear and bait because we would only bobber fish that day. The herring has been in salt, stewarts brine since Monday night in the fridge. Do you think If I vacume pack and freeze em they'll still work?

You'll find out when you take them out of the pack. They might have belly burn from the digestive acid in the stomachs and will be mushy when plug cut. On the other hand you'll have crab bait and will be thinking, "what a great idea".

Keep us posted.

I have total confidance in my 2 wk old brined bait for springers if it has been kept on ice or in the fridge. Could fall fish be more selective? I doubt it. Bet they get mushy if you freeze them again.
Has anyone else noticed the purple lable herring at Fred Meyer for $2.79 a pack?
