T-Bay on Saturday?
My curiosity is killing me. I was at my place on the Wilson River today, but had to go to Rosenberg's for some deck supplies. I drove down the Wilson River Hiway and counted no less that 15 boats headed towards Portland, and this was at 11:30 AM!
Either I missed the "Bite of the Century" or the wind or whatever sent the fleet home. Will someone please fill me in on the reason for such an early retreat from T-Bay?
Rusty

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
We took a drive down today and were there from about noon til 2:30 or so and it was calm. Ocean was open about 8AM we heard. We saw one over 50Lbs checked in at Garibaldi marina and a few others over 40. Only a few in the 20's and the rest were in the 30's. Total on the board at Garibaldi as of 1:30PM was about a dozen. Driving by the Ghost hole going, we saw 2 on at the same time. That was at noon. At 2:30 on the way back, we saw two more being fought there, one looked to be a Coho. Only about 20 boats in the Ghost hole. About half that many in the channel at mid bay. I guess the rest were out in the ocean.

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
Rusty, It was purty foggy right on the bay this morning, but burned off before 11:30. You didn't miss the bite of the Century that much is for sure we had one chance along the picket fence fish came unpinned after a 10 minute battle never did get a look at it. Saw two Chin landed a bunch of Coho jumping all over and heard of four Chin taken by guides. Great weather after the fog lifted. Maybe next weekend.

Fished Oyster House to Sheep Corral....6:30 to 3:00, we went 2 for 3. 10# coho and 30# chinook, released one jack. Bob Toman released a 20# coho. All on my own custom spinners!

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
One fine day (9/21) in Garibaldi. This picture was taken at noon, and I was back on the road to Portland to work on the house. Next time I'll wave on the way by. Fish On!

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
I was at the Oyster House from daylight to 4pm Sunday. I pretty much saw all the action and it wasn't too hot. Maybe 10 or 15 hooked (saw 7 for sure caught) for the entire day, mostly in front of the Trask and on the incoming tide in front of the ramp with kwikfish and what looked like back bounced eggs. One boat with a young guy and two adults had it figured out and hooked up twice out of four in sucession with guides on either side of them. Action sure isn't what it was this time last year, but it will pick up. Caught and released a jack in our boat. Had one hit and run on a spinner.

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
We fished Sat and sun on the south jetty, never expected to be there with the weather report we had last week. We only went 1 fish for two hook ups. But the ocean was nice and no wind! Unfortunately the fish we lost was my wifes and it was my fault I wont get into details but lets just say I panicked  I also learned my leason on leaveing crab pots, someone took mine I hate theives. Get down this week if you can now its off Tues to see Jimmy Buffett

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
Wet_Willy
Those 2 fish you saw caught in front of the Oyster House were landed by a 3rd generation Dingaling. Dad and Grandpa are proud to say the least. 7 years old ( Im so proud I can hardley stand it! )
All those fish were hooked back bouncing eggs in Grandpa's new boat. Kenny gave the new boat 2 thumbs up ( what more could a Grandpa want.)
There were definetly a lot of jacks in the upper bay and tidewater. It looks to be a good year. Give it a couple more weeks and all H*** will break loose in the upper bay.
Good fishing all,
The 2nd generation Dingaling

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
Fished Oyster House and Picket Fence. 7am till 3:00.
Saw 5 fish in front of the Oyster House. 3 caught back bouncing.
One picked up by the picket fence and a hog break a guy off after 4 jumps in a row. It was headed straight for the fence and didn't care it was hooked.
Finally boated a 41# buck on a quick fish. Not fast a furious but what a great day to be alive at the coast.

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
In response to a couple questions about my previous post (Crabbait, Spinnermaker); sorry I didn't include a better story but it got late after figuring out the photo upload. Good instructions, though. We were in the ocean, which has been a hit or miss proposition depending on when and where you are. I'm wearing the orange pants (with the "big" fish). Those fish seem to school around and the "bite" comes on in flurries, as is usual for that area. We got out about 9AM and caught all four between 10-12, including a wild double header in the middle of the "combat zone", and two large released coho. We had just cut off our gear for another runaway fish that ran under two other boats and got into our lines. The day before (Friday) we were skunked. Sometimes you are the Tillamook Slugger - and sometimes you are the fish's head. -Steve

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
I made my first trip to T Bay Saturday. After going through a learning curve, I spent serveral hours at the Ghost Hole. I managed to get a 15 lb Chinook during a noticeable bite between 1:00 & 3:00. The rest of the day was dead from what I saw wandering around inside the bay.

Re: T-Bay on Saturday?
Thinking of taking the 15ft /40 hp smokercraft out today. Any suggestions on T-Bay or PC? I've seen some decent posts from both. Now I'm just stuck trying to figure out where to head. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
