Default Neat egg-curing idea....(thanx wife!!)

Ok, I was going to go down to GoodWill and look for some fine mesh racks....and my wife said,"Just use that off-sized window screen we had made for the side window of the house".

Works sweet, I'm sure some of you have thought of it already, but I hadn't!!

Here's a pic:

Great idea. How about cleanup? Just hot soapy water?

Uhhhh, that's my guess, they're still sitting there curing as we type!!

I don't think I'd ever want to stick the screen in a window after this, though

Also probably would stay away from the wood frame screens, might be tough to get the smell off of those.

AAAAH! Put more paper down! The cure may soak thru and stain your countertop. Permananently!

I use paper towels on top of newspaper.

Watched Dogfish at F6 in CQ use herring bait trays with paper towels. That was pretty clever!

Gutz....was already thinking about that.....it's got two "rag" bath towels under there, beneath which is a few sheets of plastic wrap!!

My wife REALLY likes her countertop!! (she tiled it herself)

Looks like a great idea. My only concern would be putting some unnatural metallic scent on the eggs from the screen. I learned to cure eggs from a guy long departed and he would not use steel scissors to cut his eggs, always used plastic. Just a thought.

The fact that she let's you cure eggs and perhaps clean a fish in your kitchen proves she loves you. Sounds like you got the anti-snag method down on your river spot.

Keep them "pull the trigger on anything that moves" rascals honest out there. Nice fish you posted. Look like river and tidewater killer eggs to me. Put them all in a couple jars, will email you my address and even pay the postage. LOL.

The departure time you posted reminded me of the grand good ole' days adventures, beat everyone you could, get your spot and the excitement and anticipation of the day to come in Trask tidewater.

Huh Hogtide and the good ole' days timers. Honeymoon in the spot! What more could you ask for?

Have a no hassle trip and nail a couple.

Rick

C'mon Kyle...you know somewhere along the line you got just "one tiny little almost invisible crystal" of that stuff in the grout.

Yup ******...those old days were sweet!!! Time to take another shot at it, eh!?

The Rogue-

I thought you were bringing those eggs to me

If you spray out the screen, that will help for next time. Trust me, I forget that one all the time.

******-

I hope you're not too far from 'those days'.... I know a certain hole or two that will be calling us in less than a month. Sleep well my friend, while you can. I know I can count on you for an adventure or two soon

Chris

Guy on Wednesday.....swung the rod at EVERYTHING!!! Kept saying, "Awwww missed him!!!" or "Fishon....Fishoff". Several of us kept telling him to not touch those type of "hits".....the bites are very suttle, like a trout. Of course, he proceeded to continue, probably moved around the fish more than they would have.....but I bet those of us that had a clue would've got more biters had he not been scarrin' them up

There's definitely a technique to it.....that many fish in there, and I didn't snag a single one, but could've very easily had I wanted to.

Fish on, fish off, five times in a row next to me and I turn into the Albino Rhino! LOL. Rippin' bellies does freak them out, move them out and kill the bite, not to mention the damage to the fish and life cycles.

Yep, gotta hit tidewater a few times.

Now the only way to find out if them eggs really work doing that. Just pass a few over my way and I can tell you if doing what you are doing is really working.
