South Jetty bite
Went out this morning at 8am and headed to the south jetty of Tillamook bay. It was sporatic for the first 1/2 hour and then all hell broke loose outside along the south jetty. Pretty much every guide got their clients their limits. The bite occurred about half way down the outside of the jetty and probably no more than 30 yds out from the rocks. I didn't get any bites for quite awhile and then I noticed that the guides that were catching all of the fish had a fairly short lead dropper. I shortened up my dropper and I immediately hooked and landed a 28 1/2 lb hen. I re-tied and ten minutes later had a 31lb hen. I was done at 10:30. If the ocean cooperates tomorrow, I will hit it again.

Re: South Jetty bite
I have never been out to tillamook bay. Where would I put in my boat, and how far do I have to go to get to the south jetty, or other holes?

Re: South Jetty bite
Chub, you can put in at the public lauch (cost is $3) or at the Old Mill marina (free) in Garibaldi. The run is only about 10 to 15 minutes. Follow the day markers on your way out.

Re: South Jetty bite
I was also there early this morning. Took a few guys from work fishing today and the action was HOT!! Of the fish we caught (7 total) the biggest were one 34lb and one 30lb chromers. Weather was great and we had a blast. Looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully we won't get stuck inside. I HATE GRASS!!

Re: South Jetty bite
Nice bunch of fish! only one problem, though. Pictures with ADULTS with their hats backward should be banned, outlawed, and banished from IFISH forever! See you at Garabaldi this weekend. I'll be the guy in a goofy Aussie hat (with fish on the boat, of course).

You don't need a guide, just do it again except be sure your wife who gives the kitchen passes is the receipient of one of those
