Default Nehalem on Saturday

Hello IFISHERS -
I am fishing Nehalem bay Saturday and would love to hear if anyone else is headed that way. Looks like a good incoming morning tide, dropping crab pots and fishing the jaws by 7:30. Any current reports?
Have a great day & weekend!

I'll be there on Saturday. Never fished the bay before tho. Usually troll Wheeler and Nehalem or bobber fish above. Should be a gorgeous day. Any pointers for the bay would be very much appreciated. Does it get really crowded? I like to stay out of everyones way as much as possible.

Thanks for the report. I will be in a 16' green center console, custom built wood boat with Hondas, named "Ripple". Heres hoping that wind does'nt come up. Good luck to you! What are you fishing out of?
As far as tips go Tundra III, I know this is no big secret as everyone is doin it, but purple or blue cut-plug herring doing a lazy roll near the bottom by the south jetty and outside a bit can be very productive. The trolling pattern is pretty easy to figure out, in fact if it is crowded you don't have too much of a choice. If the wind kicks up, bar is bouncy or it is real crowded, the wheeler to 101 stretch can be alot more relaxing.

I was there last Sunday. Saw MANY fish caught from 7:00 til 3:00. All the way through the outgoing tide. more fish over 30 than under. I caught one 20lbs and lost one over 40 at the boat (see comment about net ) Most caught withing 250 yds of end of south jettie.

I know for a fact that one boat had 7 fish with one 44lb, one 42lb, and one 36lb. (saw'em in the 120 qt cooler and they were end to end with the head bent around)

Cut plug, blue or purple, flasher or not, 2 ft. dropper 10 oz wt, against the tide. HOLD ON!!!

These guys are big!!! I'll be back with some friends Sat AM also. what's your boat look like??
