I've caught sturgeon on flatfish in shallow water near St. Helens. I did have quite a bit of scent on my flat fish. Perhaps sandshrimp/herring cocktail. That means they come to where they smell some food. That was in about 18-22 feet of water.

I've thought about fishing both sturgeon and springers, but figured I would most likely spend my time setting the hook on sculpins picking at my bait.

Good Luck

If you know where to go you can find fish. I would suggest fishing upriver some though. You will have better luck. Plus the water will be calmer.

good luck
