I always thought surf rods were 10 to 12' long if not longer? Not trying to dog on the rod t all......just never seen such a short surf rod.

Usually they are longer.

But looking at the picture you can see that the butt of the rod has an abnormally long section for an 8'6" rod.

If I had a job and some money I would be all over this rod like flies on @#$*.......

it is a 2 piece rod, i'm not sure about whether it is a surf king. What is says on the rod is XS86MS. AFAIK X is for certified pro, 86 means its 8'6" and the MS means its a medium spinning rod. i got it from a buddy that moved away. I've had the rod for 2 yrs, and i just havent been able to get out to the coast to use it.
