I would try the drifter first myself. I don't own a sled( yet), but 11.1 and dropping may cause a few problems, but then again you're not really going thru much. The riffle at the end of the Boys camp might be a little skinny, same for the top of Coffee's.

Some have been drifting between Carver and Riverside. Some Barton to Carver. I'm waiting for another small spike in the river.

Chris... FYI, ran up to check the creek (just for s's & g's) and saw at least a dozen in the hole at the bridge at the park, nothing at the property (lower), but the water was up 6" and looked like it had already dropped a couple. Wouldn't be susprised to find a few fish as far up as the lower property as soon as tomrrow...

Drifted Carver to Riverside on sunday. Very low. Not real familiar with the names of the locations along the river, but only one spot near the top of the drift gave me any problems.

Don't do it unless you really know this water. I don't sled it unless it is 12.2 or higher..

First riffle, right below the Carver wall ?? That's the only spot I can think of going down in a drifter that would be any problem.

In my other post, I was referring to going UP the river in a sled.

I still think you should drift down from Carver to Riverside to check out any hazzards for your sled. I don't think many run them this time of year. But then again, I own a drifter, not a sled.

fishingislife -

If you make that run let me know when. Can someone claim salvage rights on an Oregon river?

Personally, I do not do any section of the Clack lower than 12.0. Too much risk.

I can think of three spots that I can't imagine a sled getting through right now between Riverside and Coffey.

Take your drift boat down and plan a route, then prove me wrong. But don't do it blind. You may wait until October to get your boat off the gravel...

I bought a used Willie Jet boat last July. We put in @ Riverside for our maiden voyage. The river was @ 11.9 that day. We made it up to the Coffee Hole w/o incident. Leaving Coffee's and going upriver around the next bend was real exciting to say the least. We made it through OK, but in 4" of water!! Coming back down from there wqe hugged the left bank a little tighter, and had 6" of water going down. Personally I would not run the river below 12.2'--12.5' again.

It's a whole lot easier if you close your eyes! No problem at all.
When it gets that low, it's good to remeber just what degree bottom your boat came with.

Note Drachair's post - 11.9 = 4'' of water in the shallow riffle.

11.1= about 2-3". There aren't many sleds, even flatbottoms, that do that.

Well, if I wasn't there I wouldn't of believed it...

I fished all day down below Eagle Creek and when it was time to go I heard a strange noise... could it be????

Someone decided to take their jet boat up on the Eagle Creek side of the island. I told my dad just wait, once above the creek he is going to have a hard time, sure as heck...

He came back down a couple minutes later, I would of liked to see how he got his boat off the bottom right above Eagle Creek in the shallows !!!!

Maybe next time he will go on the other side of the island!!!!

How the heck did he get there? You suppose from the private property above the power line crossing? There is no way I can fathom someone getting there from Barton...

Your guess is as good as mine... I was looking for the Ifish sticker hoping not to find one.... I thought I heard him come up from below, so maybe he did try it from Barton.
