Default Mmmmm! Beeer (NFR)

Channel 12 news reported it last night, today's Foodday section confirms it. Beer is good for your heart, 2 beers a day keeps the cardiologist away! As homer simpson would say " Wooo-Hooo! "

Now if they would just come up with a study that shows that couple beers makes you loose weight and 2 cigars weekly improves your personality, I'd have all the bases covered with the wife!

SKP,

I'm not one to be controversial - and would first like to say i'm sorry about your accident... But there is a huge difference between somebody drinking 1 -2 beers at dinner and staying home, and somebody "drinking a few" and driving. By now I think everyone should know that driving under the influence is against the law, and more importantly can drastically and negatively affect others lives. It is something i continually lecture my friends about - and luckily most are growing up and listening...

However the effect of 2 beers (non microbrew) on myself weighing in at 215 lbs and having drank many beers in my life, has about as much effect on me, as would pouring a bucket of cold water in the Columbia and hoping it will raise and cool the river level.

Bottom line - dont drink and drive, and know your limits, and according to some new study - enjoy a cold frothy one.

HMMM...BEER

SKP,
very sorry to hear about your trajedy, but
Having a couple beers in the privacy of your own home or with a designated driver is a completely differnt thing than drinking then getting behind the wheel of a car...

If you can explain to me how sitting in my favorite chair enjoying a cold frosty one is going to hurt anyone on the road then I will gladly stop drinking today.

crazyhorse, I love your by-line, or what ever you call those little qouotes at the bottom. I might have to use it sometime.

SKP, I am sincerely sorry about your terrible experience, However, please don't preach to me(us) about using alcohol. If you choose to refrain from it, that's fine by me, just don't expect to convert me(us) because of your experience. Using your theory, I could argue that you should never get into another car again because you were nearly killed by one, or that you should never own a firearm because so many people are killed by firearms. It's not the booze that injuried you, it's the idiot that drank too much, It's not the car's fault, It's the idiot behind the wheel, Guns don't kill people, people kill people! Secondly, I doubt if my wallet or waist could stand 2 beers every night, buuuut, you might say it is food for thought, So kiss my curvy butt

Like Chummer said it’s not the alcohol or the guns it’s the people. Make the punishment fit the crime.

Diversion is a joke.

wetaline you said the samething I was thinking

P.S. keep your "curvy" butt to yourself

I've had my reality check on August 25, 1972. I stand by what I say. Unless you wear my shoes, I know you will not understand, and I repect your position too. I choose where I place my line, and some choose to move the line in the other direction. This is America. Drinking is legal. Not smart in my feeble opinion, but legal. What you do legally is great. I just know what drinking leads to in general. I'm glad that most of you are sensible enought to do it privately, and not take it to a public road - Wonderful! I applaud you.

I had another experience on the Salmon River about 12 years ago. Two guys were fishing above the 101 bridge by themselves, so we pulled in and tried to fish way above them. You know when fishing is hot, 50 guys fit in there confortably. A drunk fisherman came after us with his empty beer bottle in his hand and wanted to take swings at us to get us to leave. He said he had been there since 2 AM or something like that, and no one was going to fish near his spot. No wonder the bank was empty on September 28, when normally it would be packed. He chased everyone else out. We left without a word. Had the guy been been sober, he probably would have netted a fish for us, but the mind was altered because of the alcohol. My mind has been altered by alcohol too, but in the opposite direction. I choose to not consume.

I understand that I am one in a million who has been affected so negatively by alcohol in my life. Had the accident not happened, I am sure I would not be posting this, but fate happened.

I am glad we can all disagree peacefully. Ifish.net is great, because fisherman have a stronger level of awareness, responsibility, and respect than the average joe. I respect your positions, but please respect mine. I do hope to fish by all of you, and even net your fish if needed.

In the mean time, bobber down!!! I'll catch a fish while you guys are sitting in your easy chair.

SKP-
I appreciate you sharing your story... maybe you'll have a positive affect on someone and that is all I'm sure you're after.

Wetaline-
I appreciate YOU'RE message to DRINK RESPONSIBLY and glad to see so many in agreement.

So many bad things happen in life and fortune doesn't always seem to fall on those deserving of it. My uncle died because of a drunk driver. I choose to drink responsibly and promote the same behavior of others.

Cheers to all the ifishers... whether or not you have a beer in hand! (I do...)

 Here are my 2 pinnies.

I love my beer. Not more than 3 in a day...
How many hours in a day? Okay.24 divided by.............. Never mind... You see my point is this. Do what you do to be happy and keep yours to yourself. I can agree to a limit with SKP. My uncle and his wife to be were killed in 1982 along with their best friends. It was to be a double wedding that day. That really sucks. But if you see what affect alcohol has, then you may just see that you need to have limits. I don't drink and drive. Period..... But I do love my beer...and Crown and cokes. I am sure we all will Never agree on everything so lets have a coldbeer and talk about it.

Chummer,

Don't be fooled by these beer reports. All I have to say is on August 25, 1972, I nearly died in a car accident because of a beer drinker. He had only a "couple" and was messed up enought to drive right into the car my dad was driving head on, sending me to the hospital for 9 days, and years of pain. I lost my spleen from the impact. Without a spleen, my immunities are permanently lowered, so I catch all the flu and colds passed around. I hate it.

You have heard the message, "please don't drink and drive". Well, my message is, "please don't drink......period".

If you suffered the pain I went through (and still go through), you would understand. I am against any intoxicating substance, because of what they can do.

I'm sure the buzz and the taste are probably liked by most, but please think about the consequences that can happen.

Most people think, sure it will never happen to me, but think this through again. Do a reality check.

:depressed:
