Stan,
The easiest way to get this right, is to call Lowrance and have them walk you through the wiring for NMEA 0183 for your components. They should be happy to help you with this.

When I installed my Standard Horizon & hooked it up to my Lowrance HDS-7, I called Standard Horizon and they gave me the wiring sequence.

Sidenote: I see that Lowrance has recently upgraded both the LVR 880 and the LVR 250 their radios to Class D. That's good news. The LVR 880 can be networked via NMEA 2000, which I believe would be plug-n-play with your 5200C. The LVR 250 has to network via NMEA 0183. This isn't bad, it's just not as easy (as you've learned).

Looks as simple as yellow to yellow, orange to orange, ground to ground if your pin outs are correct.
5200 needs to transmit a sentence the 250 can handle.

That's what I thought but wanted a second opinion, will pull boat out of shop so it can get a signal. Give it a try tomorrow. I tried calling Lowrance but hung up after 15-20 min. on hold,

Page 73 of your GPS manual has the steps to configure the NMEA settings.
On my 520c I enabled the 3 check boxes for 0183 and adjust the baud rate until the radio sees the GPS.
My Icom shows 'GPS' in the display when I get them to talk.

Ended up being orange to orange and yellow to green. Also adjusted the 5200 to be able to send and receive NMEA 183.

Good job. Making those connections can be some of the most simple yet confusing. Makes me wonder why they can't make the wires all color coded the same between manufactures.

Still....it is rewarding once you have it all hooked up like it's supposed to be. And even more rewarding if you know how to operate it all!

It would be great if they did make them all the same, then I could have just went and looked how I hooked them up on my other boat lol. Also make sure when you have a seperate gps and depth sounder that you are trying to hook up the set of wires from the gps and not the wires from the depth sounder
