What are you neglecting?
Tis one of my favorite times of the year. Trout salmon and steelhead galore! For those of you that hunt you can shoot feathers and fur. The weather is great and the options are greater. That being said what are you opting not to do so you can have fun?
The other night I mowed my lawn for the first time in two weeks! My yard was starting to look real bad. One of my cats was lost in the tall grass for two days so I had to finally cut it. I am wondering if any of you are as sick as I am!

Re: What are you neglecting?
I turned my sprinkers off in June. Haven't mowed since July 1. The only place it's green is where my cleaning table drains! Today was trip #99 for my boat this year. It's everything I can do to keep my truck, boat and trailer working - to heck with the house and yard. I'll probably have some making up to do after elk season (and I'm not talking about the house and yard......).

Re: What are you neglecting?
Ain't it the truth! I was talking the other day about how the spring is taken up with steelhead in the river (March), rats in the sage (April/May), shad in the shallows (June), Hogs in the river (when it ain't blown out). Then it's smallies and redsides, and all of a sudden it's time to scout deer and elk trails, bird shootin', ducks, geese, deer, elk, and finally it's winter and the steelhead are back and it snows and we can go cross-country skiing and howling coyotes.
About half-way through this tirade, my sister-in-law stopped me and said, "You don't really have an *off* season, do you?"
Lawn? We don't need no stinkin' lawn!

Re: What are you neglecting?
The last time I mowed the lawn,I flushed 2 rabbits and a pheasant.Missed the first bunny, rolled the second. Then the rooster cackles and stands up in the blackberry patch that used to be a car.Got him down on the first shot but only winged him so had to send the dog after it and finished it off by the mailbox.
Some of us are not just large juveniles and can keep up with our responsibilities. But those old weenies are no fun to hang with anyway.

Re: What are you neglecting?
OH yes look at our lawn, so brown and looking. Once every 30 days it gets cut. Lets see what my last year and this year has been like.
January-March, winter steelhead fishing. March-June fishing for the Spring Chinook and Spring Steelhead. June-August I was fishing for the June hogs and the summer steelhead and Ocean fishing for salmon. August-December I'm hunting for deer, elk, grouse and waterfowl. Fishing for the fall Chinooks and Coho and just waiting for the first of the winter steelhead to show. Now for December I'm slaying the winter steelhead and droping ducks  . All in all I have had a very good year and a half of fishing and hunting  . OH shoot, I have school now :depressed: can't go fishing every day now.

Re: What are you neglecting?
My yard maintenance program consists of rock and defoliants. And if that doesn't work, there is always concrete.

The dog started barking and growling at me last time I came home.

Miss B, as long as it is your dog growling and barking at you and not your wife.
Kingfisher85, hunting this fall  I don't think so.

Re: What are you neglecting?
Fishisabonus - Hi, how are ya. First weekend in ages I'm NOT going fishing. She's been pretty understanding. I'm trying to get her to come down and crab/fish the river next weekend but she's not real excited about it. Just isn't one for that coastal weather (too much wind, too much fog, not enough sun and heat).
I told her she had to decide this weekend so I could line up some company if she wasn't going. If she's not coming down we may do another Tuna run if the water warms back up and the seas back down. We'll see later next week what's happening !
