HI Shane,

Just made a call and the she was asking how I heard of this and I told her IFISH of course. Also told her of the Guides forecast too. How about steelheader.net? Anybody over there know about it?

She said there was about 70something that called yesterday and only 20 so far this morning. How many mouths do they need to hear in order to keep it going?

Yes she was a very nice lady.

I made my call today requesting the hatcheries be kept open, and asked a couple questions thought I would pass along.

Question #1 - how many calls have you had today in favor of keeping the hatcheries open?

Answer - 20 some have called today and I think 76 yesterday

Question #2 - How many calls in favor of closing the hatchery?

Answer - Long pause, "hmmm...." more long pause and then she said, "nobody has called asking to close the hatcheries." :smile: :smile:

I think I threw her for a loop on that last question :shocked:

I am glad the wild fish advocates are not voting the other way cancelling our calls out. :smile:

Pick up the phone and do your kids a favor so they can go fish some day.

Just tried to call. Let it ring 20 times and no answer. Do you think that means that they just don't want to hear what we want to say? It is just like the email form that I tried to send and it keeps rejecting me, saying that It must be kept to a small amount of words. Does Keep the Hatcheries appear too long? I think that no matter what we say or do, that Kitzhaber has his own agenda and no matter what is said, he will do it his way. He has had two terms to work on these things and he waits until the end of his role as the Gov. then he simply doesn't care. Vote them all out of office, republicans or democrats. Lets get some new blood.

Hawgcatcher - IMHO, a big part of the problem has been term limits. The legislature is full of way too many rookies with no understanding of why & how things are. What we need to do is figure out who supports our cause and who doesn't and vote accordingly. The desire to "vote 'em all out" is, again IMHO, politically naive.

I called again today and I will also be getting several other people to call as well. Hell, I even had my X-WIFE call this morning. Come on people CALL! If you don't get an answer call again, re-check your number, call again. How many times can you call in one day?

Well I'm about to have a friend from work (I have the day off) email everyone that is interested in fishing, or who ever is willing to call (even if they don't fish) to call as well. We will win this battle!

My comments, just when the salmon runs are returning and things are better than years past we can't close hatcherys.

If we close hatcherys, in 4-5 years The NW will be only known for rain and a distant memory of Salmon. I mentioned that I would not mind a added fee attached to the licence which if it were dedicated to Hatcherys if a gurantee was there, As much as Kitz gurantee' anything.

She sure sounded cute... call her!

I just spoke with "Nice Lady" and she is SO nice!
She said we are making her day! She says she rarely gets anything but complaints, so she is smiling today.
Let's all be OVERLY nice to "Nice Lady" and REALLY make her day!

I just recieved this from the Governor's automated email system. I left a message on the site a few days back....here it is if you are interested....

While the Governor opposes the large number of cuts, he also opposes the
plan that has Oregon borrowing against our future to pay for today's debts.
Borrowing money to get us through this financial crisis does not, in any
way, resolve the budget crisis next biennium. In fact, it adds to the
deficit.

The proposed cuts that the Governor released do affect all state agencies,
inlcuding ODFW. These are across the board cuts because the Governor does
not have authority to make selective cuts. In fact, when the Governor

Legislature. The case is before the Oregon Court of Appeals but on hold due
to the current budget negotiations.
