Default FB area report/my story

I'm a fairly new boat owner so this is my first year anchor fishing for fall chinook. I've been a fishing fanatic all my life, but doing it out of a boat is a whole new world. I'm learning as I go. I read these boards and ask a lot of questions before I try something new so I don't tick a bunch of people off by being an idiot. I've found common sense goes a long way too, I wish more people used it. Anyway, I put all this into action the last two days and from the sounds of the other reports from the area we did pretty good. I spent the first two hours yesterday before the tide change kind of mapping the bottom in a few spots trying to find a good looking slot. I found one that looked good to me but we were pretty far away from any other boats. My buddy felt we should be fishing with everyone else because"thats where the fish are, obviously"...I felt that we had found a good spot and we were the only ones there. It's my boat so we stayed. We started at 10am yesterday and had our limits by 3pm. We went 4 for 6. We went back today and again, we were the only boat there. We couldn't get them to stick today for some reason(maybe some advise here?). We went 2 for 7. We fished from 11am to 4:30 today. We had a lot of fun and I guess we did pretty good all things considered. It was definately nice to go out with the attitude of just putting in some hours to learn the fishery and then actually putting some fish in the boat. That's why I love fishing, good or bad there are always surprises, new discoveries, and memories that last forever. Like watching my better half catch her first fall chinook today.....awesome. Take care all, see ya out there =).

Way to go Rimshot,
It sounds as if you really found your own slot. Rivers change and it pays to spend the time as you did finding new areas that concentrate fish. Sometimes I like to get away from the crowd myself but I enjoy the entertainment of the hoglines also. Congrats on your succes.
