Default Trailer License fees incresed in WA

Just got the renewal for one of my 4 boat trailers. Fee went from around $12 last year to $36.50 this year. I called DMV thinking it was a mistake and found out that the legislature cleaned up the confused ballot that was passed last year. So instead of no new taxes all trailers, mopeds, motorcycles will be at a new rate of over $30.

So I called my local representative to find out what is going on and was told that thanks to Mary Margret Haugen, Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee (representing the 10th District) that she pushed this through. Supposedly, the senate passed some bill to clean up the confused ballot and this is what we ended up with. My representative claimed he was unaware that the end result was a 200 + % increase.

So, if you think dragging your db trailer or small boat trailer down the road at a rate higher than automobiles is fair do nothing. If you think this is an end run around what we as voters told our elected representatives when we passed the tax and auto tabs initaitive then call Ms. Haugen and the Governor and ask them how we got screwed when they screwed up. Also call your local representatives and let them know how you feel. I did and got a phone call from one of mine tonight

Giz,

Keep up the good work and keep those Washington taxes under control! I hope to move my business and home your way within a year.

We need to do some fishing soon.

I agree 100% we are taxed to much. Last year my tabs didnt get to me in time. So I had to go down and get them I had to pay twice and the second time was allmost as much as the first. Another thing that really gets me is having to pay for tabs for my camper every year. Why I keep asking myself It doesnt have a steering wheel or tires. It is setting on top of a allready taxed pickup. Exacty what are those tonage fees they charge me extra for each year going to not my camper. I have often joked to my buddies you need to have a brief case with you when you camping and fishing. To hold truck registration, boat registration, trailer registration, camper registration, fresh water fishing license, saltwater fishing license, seaweed/shellfish license, drivers license and proof of insurance. Dang keep it up and I will have to install a file cabinet to the back of my vehicles to keep everything up to date where I can find it all. It is time to stop all of this. We vote down taxes and they seem to find a loop hole around it everytime. This is the best reason to vote and make sure you put the people in place that will take care of these problems.

at least your hatcheries are remaining open at this time. Unlike our dear Govenor Kichenslobber's ideas.
