Praise and Thanksgiving!
Wednesday my 10 year old son woke up early throwing up. We thought it was the stomach flu. He was sick all day. Thursday evening he still wasn't feeling well and was complaining of pain on the sides of his lower abdomen/upper pelvis, especially when he walked, and it just didn't seem right for a simple stomach bug, so I asked my wife to take him to the doctor the next morning. I was at work the next morning. The doctor diagnosed appendicitis and sent them to the hospital. I met them there. Luckily I only work a few blocks away and could just drop what I was doing and walk there. The surgeon evaluated him and confirmed it, and took him in to surgery. He got out of the hospital this morning.
I'd like to thank the Lord for the skill of his doctors, the availability of a surgeon and a hospital, and God prompting us to get him in for what seemed like just a nuisance ailment. A hundred and fifty years ago in this country it would be a likely death sentence, with the appendix bursting, sepsis setting in, and death from septic shock to follow. In a lot of other countries that is the case to this day. Here it is considered routine. It is something that could take my little boy away from us in another time and another place. Through the blessings of God, that didn't happen to us this week.
