Default The MOTHER of all birdnests!

I finally got my family to come out with me today on the water and decided to hit what I had heard was a great late afternoon bite. Got out on the water and tried to anchor next to ******. My wife did not want to pilot the boat so I got the anchor set up for her to drop. 1st try no stick.... 2nd try no stick... third try no stick... hummmmm whats up? Motor sputter, sputter.... dead. Ummm anchor line in the jet intake   DOH! I must have dropped anchor a 100 times and never had this kind of trouble!

Used the kicker to get to the side of the river and cut the line... bye bye anchor Could not pull the line out for my life so back to the take out on the kicker Pulled my boat out took off the intake guard and this is what I saw (this picture was taken after I cut on it for 20 min!)

In the following photo notice how happy and relaxed I look.... NOT

After about 1.5 hours I got it out and headed back out so my son could steer the boat and we let the kids play on the beach. Looked for the missing anchor rope for the heck of it but no where to be found! From what I heard at the dock I did not miss much on the fishing end. At least we had a nice little Sunday afternoon adventure. Nice seeing you again Smallfry and nice meeting you ******!

I saw Shane laying under his baot when we pulled out this afternnon. I really felt bad for him. He had a pile of samll section of his anchor rope under the boat and was still cutting.

I guess this is just another reason not to have the pump mounted on my boat.

Well at least you didn't miss the bite today. Juat didn't happen like yesterday.

My be next time.

5-cents - It only takes about 20 minutes to fillet a $70 dollar sea anchor. They come out in bigger pieces. You could blow up that picture and sell it as art!

Small Fry - Yeah, you are right. Those props never suck up an anchor line (or empty a reel, or shear a pin).

I was wondering about all that monkey motion going on.nice boat!
Actually there was a sea anchor fouled prop earlier on that line 5C was trying to join. They were trying to re set the anchor with the sea anchor still in the water.

A crab pot line in the intake looks exactly like that. I mean, I bet it looks like that. Get wound pretty tight huh?

Not that I would know anything about it.
