I drive to the coast every day for work and every time I cross the bridge at Hiouchi junction I think of that episode that Larry did on the Smith River in '84 and smile. Our prayers are with the family and I will see you There soon.

This saddens me because a huge memory of watching his show with his goofy sunglasses and a rod for every occasion is engrained with fond memories as a boy with my old man. I recall as a boy my dad and I would be seen on a Sunday enjoying possibly the only show we both liked. His show and store in cedar hills wew things that made my boyhood relationship with my father that much closer.

Thanks Larry. I hope you're fishin more than the west now.

Larry was a legend in his own time. We have lost a true friend and a great human being. He always had time to talk fishing or share his knowledge w/ others regardless of how busy he was. He will always be out there on the water w/ the rest of us! deep trout (George Barton)

RIP Larry. You were truely a gentleman. A fishing show that set the bar that few have reached. A sporting goods store that made your mouth water at the chance to go to. Every time I spoke to him, it was as if I was a VIP. You will be missed. May god give peace to your family.

My aunt Ethel Schoenborn asked that I post her following statement to our friends at Ifish.

Hi Eric,
Please submit the following to the ifish website:

I want to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to write your memories of Larry.
Before he passed I printed up all your comments and he read them. You brought joy to the last days of his life and for this I thank you.
Larry lived every day to the fullest, loved God's creation, loved fishing and really loved teaching others. He always said, "I enjoy watching someone catch fish as much as catching them myself."

Thanks,
Aunt Ethel

Thank you all for the warm comments and for sharing your memories. Larry will be missed.

Eric Schoenborn

Sorry to hear of His passing on.
I remember fishing with Larry a couple of times for Salmon around the time We made one of our favorite fish (Ocean Rainbows)a game fish in Oregon. Been awhile. God Bless Him & His Family & Friends. Oh almost forgot, He picked out a lure for me to use to catch a steelhead with, my first steelhead a 13lb. hen on a Okie drifter w/a hook on both sides. Memories.

Thank you for resurrecting this thread.
Larry was a legend in all respects, and his legacy lives on.
A true pioneer in outdoor television here in the Northwest; his professionalism, and personality is still missed today.
And Eric,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of and help carry on his great legacy.
Prayers always and Sincerely,
- Vinnie

It would be cool to bring back the old Fishing the West and Fishing the Northwest shows again. I know they did several years ago but would like to watch them again.

I really loved his show. He will be greatly missed.
I would love to see all of his old shows. Maybe they could put them on a dvd and sell them and donate the money to charity or whatever.
Just a thought.
