My first springer this year

Went out on the Channel this morning. Nice and sunny, trolled a herring and the pole went off. Brought her in single handed. An immature bald eagle flew to a nearby tree to watch. Brought the fish to the net. Fought like a hatchery fish, ran about 18 lbs. Fish had an extra fin, well actually half an extra fin. Unplugged the two solidly set hooks just inside the lower jaw and let her go. I call those fins a lazy day at the hatchery.

WTG on catching a nice fish! Im not sure if you know or not but the regs have changed this year and if it was an obvious hatchery fish with a bad clip or half clip as you said you could have kept it legit. It just has to be clipped with a healed scar now. Not totally removed. With that said if you had any doubts you did the right thing.

Good job chrome bumper and mastercaster is correct

but the fish gods will :grin: on you greatly for allowing it to go on....you'll get more
