Re: Where to go Banking for Springers
From Washougal you're probably looking at either heading east to Bonneville, which can be a pretty productive fishery, or heading west to Frenchmen's which is less of a zoo, but you lose less gear and it's not as combative. To get to Frenchmen's if you're unfamiliar, take 14 to I5 north, take the fourth plain exit and head west on 4th Plain all the way out past the industrial area, you'll take a 90 degree left, 90 degree right, and then it's a couple miles to the entrance. You'll see the fishermen along the beach there. If you're interested in driving farther there are bank fishing oppurtunities in Woodland, Kalama, and Longview also. Don't forget, that there are some springers who enter the tributaries near you, you might have luck bank fishing up at the wind, but I know nothing about that fishery. BTW The standbye at pretty much any of those locations in spin-n-glos. Heavier leader, mainline, and weight is usually the norm at Bonneville, whereas at Frenchmens you can get away with less. Good Luck! Hope some of this helps, TOC.
