interesting sturgeon fact.
I just learned that sturgeon are all males till they reach a maturing size of 60", this is why the slot has that number. At that length, they become females. WOW. I did'nt know that. Pretty cool
My little boy Wyatt is only 29" long now at 8 months, but he's male and I hope at 60 inches he's still male.

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
chances are he will stay male until he meets the right woman and then wellll.... he will then be like the rest of us that are trying to stay married, and loose part of our anatomy.

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
Darn Brad, that just totaly screws up all our data! Why didn't somebody tell us that earlier? Would have saved us all that time and money on gender ratios through life stages. Darn it anyway.

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
Does that meant they can marry themselves at 60" if they're living in the Willamette by Portland? zip

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
according to STGrule, it's not true. The website I got this info from must be pretty lame. I should have checked with Ruth before posting. Of course look at all the fun we had because of it.
Same fish marriages. Guess we have to consider it?

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
im pretty sure a male sturgeon will allways be a male and a female sturgeon will allways be a female, unless the ODFW. preforms an adodyctomy surgery on the fish

Re: interesting sturgeon fact.
But there are some fish that start off as females then have sex changes  and become males such as the California sheepshead.

That use to be my favorite eating fish. Haven't had any for quite a few years. The flesh is kind of like a black sea bass around these parts. All yummmy.
