poached dishwasher salmon
impress your friends with newfound redneck skills! Cook your salmon in the dishwasher! It's true!, it works! Here's how: 4 salmon fillets, 1 per person, 1'' thick
1 each: red, yellow, green bellpepper, sliced up
1 small red onion, sliced up.
stir up peppers and onion and sprinkle over fish. Wrap in 2 layers of foil tightly so that water will not seep in. Place in top rack of dishwasher. set dishwasher to NORMAL not pots and pans cycle, that's too long. after washer completely cycles(about 50 minutes), leave fish in another 5 minutes to firm up, and yer dun! Fish is succulent, moist and full of flavor. you can wash a load of dishes at the same time, but some detergents have a strong scent that could permeate the fish. Dishwashers maintain an even, moist heat, and no fishy smells in the kitchen  give it a whirl

Wrap each piece of fish individually with 2 layers of foil.

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
I assume the air-dry "energy saver" feature is not appropriate? Most of the cooking must be in the drying cycle.
I've heard this is pretty good, but never tried it. Guess I need to go fishing, awwww

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
First tried that nearly 20 years ago on Thanksgiving. The oven was full of bird and it was too nasty outside for the grill. Just remember, NO SOAP!

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
No need to buy a smoker, just wrap your salmon filet in foil twice, poke a couple of holes, tie the salmon in the foil on a string, and hang down inside your woodstove pipe. Only use hardwoods in the stove, as fir or pine will cause on off flavor. I prefer Alder.
Put it in before bedtime, and retrieve in the morning. No mess, No fuss.

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
If your going to do your dishes at the same time you should use lemon scented soap.   I have a friend that when we go four wheeling in his jeep cj5 he allways sticks a couple of cans of vienna wieners on the manifold then after a few hours they are nice and warm. Tried sticking beer in the grill of the truck many years ago to cool it down didnt work to well to close to the radiator I think. We drank it anyway your only young and foolish for a short time.

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
I talked to my dishwasher (kick start) and she said that she would rather leave the foil off. Something about the filling in her tooth  I told her what I could kick her last tooth out but she said that it wouldn't fit on the string with her others.

Re: poached dishwasher salmon
When was a kid I worked on the farm driving swathers, combines etc. We used to double wrap store bought burritos and stick them in the exhaust pipes of the swather's. (we made screens out of chicken wire to hold them) Nice hot burritos for lunch everyday. Swather didn't run so good when I tried a large can of chili.
Your dishwasher recipe reminded me of that.
