Herring Cure?

What are the best fisherman I know using to cure their cut plug herring, I know it's something like rock salt...coffemate...

Dan, the smurfed herring worked pretty well for you last spring, didn't it. :grin:

About a quart of water, I use distilled. 1/2 cup of coffeemate, add rock salt a little at a time and stir it until it won't dissolve any more. Then put in some blue food coloring or Mrs. Stewarts bluing. Worked for ya last time.

How long are you leaving them in the cure...?

I generally leave them overnight but I think it might be too long in some instances. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this. It'd be great to hook up again, what's your schedule like?

Powdered milk also works instead of coffeemate. Also... I add blue AND green dye.
