"Buzz" Allison

[No Wishin Just Fishin]

There will be a memorial service this afternoon, in Vancouver, for Hugh "Buzz" Allison. He owned Allison Electric in Portland and grew it into Oregon Electric, which was one of the largest companies on the west coast, employing over 1400 wiremen for a few years. I was priviledged to work for this great man and also to fish with Him. Whenever I would go to Him with a PO for a guided trip for clients, He never turned me down.

Some of You will undoubtably remember His boat at Hammond, The Alison, the 75 foot double hulled boat along the west dock for many years. For a number of years it would be taken up the inland passage to Ketchikan to provide a fishing platform for our vendors and clients.

Buzz was also an accomplished sailor and pilot. He always had time to talk to anyone He knew about electrical and/or fishing. He is the reason that electricians in Portland local 48 retire with one of the best pensions in the country. A finer man never lived.

He will be sorely missed!! Good winds and a trailing sea my friend
