Information please on Yamaha purchase
I am looking to purchase a 2004 Yamaha 60 HP 4 stroke outboard.
I would appreciate any suggestions and contact information for best price and service.
I have noticed several Ifishers who work for companies who sell Yamaha outboards
Mods… Does Ifish have an official Yamaha supplier for me to look into?
Thank you in advance

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
I bought a new 90 hp yamaha 4 stroke a couple of years ago for $7,800 canadian dollars in British Columbia. Same motor was $7,800 US dollars at North River marine (on sale). Exchange rate was around 1.5 to 1 at the same time. (about a 2,500 dollar savings) With NAFTA, if you structure the sale right you legally don't even have to pay the normal 14% import duty when you bring it back. Might be worth a weekend trip to British Columbia. Canadian warrenty and warrenty registration is the exact same as US warrenty and honored by US dealers.
Just a thought. Email me if you want the dealer location I have dealt with in the past.

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
Ditto what UG said. I talked with them last summer, and they were a lot cheaper on 4 strokes up north of the border.

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
I would be careful on the Canada deal. Yamaha and Mercury have said they will not honor the warranty of a Canadian serial number in the US. Furthermore, they told the dealers if they caught you selling into the US markets they would pull the line from the dealer. 2 years ago manufacturers saw a real peak in large outboards being sold out of the Canada supposedly that caused these changes.

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
Thank you all for your suggestions both public and private.
So far I have contacted:
Y-marina - Coos Bay
North River - Clackamas
Browns Landing - Scappoose
Pacific Boatland – Vancouver
And all but the last one has been exactly the same, to the penny, for price.
I was hoping there was a little room for cash discounts but it seems there is a fixed floor with regards to pricing and no incentive to choose one dealer over another.
Thank you again for your help everyone. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to provide them here or privately
Regards

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
I recently got a quote from pacific boatland and they were $1800 more than NorthRiver on an F225  Browns was $500 more. Good luck ***.
By the way, with a name like ***, you should be getting a Merc.

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
*** another yamaha dealer is Clemen's Marine. I was checking on prices of F115, they were about the same price there as Northriver. Pacific was higher as was Brown's.

Re: Information please on Yamaha purchase
Here are a couple more... unfortunately I've not yet contacted them so can not help with any info about these...
Salem: CPS RV, 503-399-9483 - they sell RV's, Lund boats and Yamahas. I wonder if they service the Yamaha's, etc.
Corvallis: Southside Marine, 541-753-4241. They sell all major brand outboards, including Yamahas, and also sell North River boats, etc.

As you have found out, the prices are pretty much set. One thing that is NOT the same, is service!!!!!! I had a Yamaha 115 mounted by Browns on a Boulton. (prior to Clemmins handling the boat) I gotta tell ya, I will not buy anything, or have any work done at Browns. I even went in & talked to "Debbie", she told me I should not have come to see my new boat at her showroom, the guy(Marine Tech Sales) that sold me the boat should have known better than to tell me to come & take a look at my new boat, & she did not make ANY money on my motor.

Clemens Marina in Gladstone will match or beat anyone's price -- they also have 60hp 4-strokes in stock ready to go
