Default Best Hunting boot dressing-Waterproofing ?

I have been using Obenauf's on all my hunting boots and spraying the goretex with silicone, but man that stuff is spendy! 13.00$ for a little tub. Works great but was wondering if there is something better out there for less $ what is your favorite?

Don't know if you have a store called ranch and home but i picked up some Obenauf's for $6.99/4oz. It is the exact same stuff but in a ranch and home container.

No, we don't have one of those around here, but when I am traveling I may stop in and stock-up. That is a good price. $12.99 @ Coastal farm and ranch. Thanks for the info.

I have been using Oregon Trail Company leather protector and it seems to work great on my Lowa's.All natural so it doesn't smell or affect the stitches

oN Leather I use snow seal - not fancy. Heat it up and apply. Not sure I would wear a boot with goretek on the outter in heavy rain / water.
Goretek - maybe Goretek solutions. DO not know what happens if you spray something on Goretex - do you clog the membranes? Might be waterproff but not breath

I paid $8.99 at Cabelas for Obenauf's a few weeks ago.
I also feel that I have to apply fairly frequently so the little tub doesn't last that long.

I like Hubert's, fairly cheap, natural ingredients, low odor.

I use Sno-Seal. A bee's wax consistency. I stick my boots in the oven and warm up the Sno-Seal and wipe it on.

On the Leather/Gore-tex lined boots from Danner is where I spray the silicone, this is what Danner recommends for the Gore-tex. On the Leather I use the Obenauf's. This seems to work ideal, other than the price for the Obenauf's.

Oregon Trail Leather Protector by Baker's in Eugene. Zero odor and works well. It do think I apply it more often than some other products I have used but I have been pretty happy with the products performance.

The stuff that comes from Danner, with their name on it seems to work great. It comes in a little tube that lasts for 2 applications. I prefer to put it on in Sept., which gives it time to soak in just before the season. And then after the season so the boots don't dry out.

I'll have to get some of the Danner conditioner, I screwed up and took some bad advice from the shoe guy at Coastal in OC. He told me Obenaufs, which is a great product, but my GT boots don't breathe anymore.

I thought they started leaking bad, but it's just perspiration. I pretty much only wear these boots during cold weather now. Lesson learned.

beeswax. regular old beeswax. All the others have is solvents to make the beeswax application easier. Straight beeswax is tougher to apply, but nothing will waterproof better. and its cheap.

try mixing the wax with vinegar and linseed oil. That's what I use, brush it on and put the boots on the dryer or let them set in the sun.

read the ingredients on most leather conditioners/water-proofers
