I miss my Dad
I lost my Dad this morning at a little after 8:00 this morning.
I miss him already.
His passing was peaceful. He went after I told him the whole family was there and we'd be ok until he saw us all again in Heaven.
I was holding him and stroking his arm and it felt so loving.
It is the ones left behind that it is so hard on.
I'm on my way home to hug my dog.
Jen

Why is it so hard and when will I stop crying?

Re: I miss my Dad
Jennie,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Father's passing. There is really nothing anyone can say that will make it any easier -- only the passage of time.
When I lost my dad, December 18th of 2008, that call felt like time stopped. It's been 2 years now, and there are still times when I hear a song on the radio, hear someone say an old time phrase that he said often, or just random memories when tears fall, but overall, myself and my family are healing. It just takes a lot of time and the support of good friends and family.
We'll be thinking about you guys, and praying for your comfort in this time of distress.
Cheers,
Ben

So sorry to hear.
When I lost my father I was just numb. He was 46 and I was 19.

Re: I miss my Dad
Thought this was so sweet. Dad spent his winters in Palm Springs as a marshall at Cimeron (sp) Golf Course....
He lived in a special place on a road with several people from Canada. They were there own little social group and had dinners weekly, etc. They were so awesome to my Dad. Helping him, driving him doctors, to work sometimes, etc.
Cindy from that group wrote him this poem. I love it.
Gary, I am going to cut and paste Bob's poem here; maybe you can read it to him? Up to you, but here it is. I feel for you guys, and by the way, you are welcome! For taking care of your dad, that is. It was a delight.
From Oregon this Robert came
He’s been heard to say
“Boys, we got game”
“Pass that ball and get ‘er done”
“Then to the pub guys, have some fun”.
Quite a life this Bob has had
Some crazy good times
And then some bad.
He raised 5 kids with his lovely wife
They had their good times but loved their life.
Bob came to Palm Springs for his Golden Years
He golfs, he tells jokes
That just bring us to tears.
What a wonderful addition
He’s made to our block
We sure the heck miss him
‘Cause we love our local jock.
So let’s raise a glass
To our Oregon Bob
Cheers, our good friend
From this Canadian mob.

Re: I miss my Dad
I'm so sorry for your loss, Jennie. I know what you are going through. My Dad passed away May 11, 2008 after losing my little brother that January (his 56th birthday would be tomorrow). It does get a little easier but you won't notice for quite a time. Don

He had an amazing talent to make everyone feel as if he liked them best.
Maybe he did!
It just makes me want to try to make others feel the way he made me feel: Loved!

Re: I miss my Dad
Jennie,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. (Even the dog.)
It truly is difficult for those left behind.
I think of my Dad everyday, miss him too, that won't change.
I talk with him in my dreams.
He misses us too, I can tell.
He will make me smile once and awhile,
When I catch myself-
I stop and grin- well that was just like him!
Quote:
I think I'll miss my Dad forever, every day.
On my way home to hug my dog.

Re: I miss my Dad
Oh, Jen...so sorry to hear this news. Dads and daughters...always a special bond. But your dad lives on through all you kids and the wonderful things he taught you in life.
I lost my Dad in the early 80's...he, too, was a very good man. Never heard anyone say a bad word about him. Was liked by everyone and liked everyone. He lived by the words that there is good in everyone...some you just have to look a little harder to find it. And he treated everyone that way. Kind and generous and most of all, he was such a fair man. He was my favorite person in my life. No one can ever replace him.
But anything good I do in this life, I attribute to what my dad taught me.
I'm sorry you're going thru this pain...My prayer to God? Ease up a little on this girl!

Re: I miss my Dad
Psalm 23
A psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[ a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
I am so,so, sorry in hearing of the passing on to Heaven of your Father.
May the comfort of our Lord Jesus be with you and your brothers and sisters in these trying times.
Love in Christ

Re: I miss my Dad
Jen,
I can't begin to express my sympathy enough with typed words.
I just read the letter you wrote this morning, and came here to offer my condolences..
I type this with tears streaming, and an aching heart and lump in my throat for your loss..
I know how much you loved your Dad from all that you've written, so see this this morning was a shock.. I truely feel your loss
I still have my Dad, but lost my Mom June 3rd 2003. I STILL miss her, and can honestly tell you, you will ALWAYS miss your Dad..
The pain will ease. But once in a while the tears will still come.. Not as often, and wont last as long as now.. But they'll still come
I quit a career of 26 years, to work with my Dad last June..
He's 75 now, and you probably wouldnt guess that if you met him.. But I get to see what his age is doing to him, and it frustrates him.
Years of smoking hurt him.. Even though he quit almost 30 years ago, his lungs are his biggest problem..
We spend 3-4 days a week traveling, and in the last 6 months, I've learned so much more about who he is as a person.. We are a lot alike!
But different too..
I am blessed to have this chance to spend so much time with him in these later years, and even though some days we get on each others nerves, I absolutely will cherish every moment.
I know you'll see him again.
With my deepest sympathy
David Miller

Re: I miss my Dad
Oh Jennie! We feel your pain - so much so that I can't stop crying and I know it will tear at Andy's heart, too when I tell him tonight.
I know you're not ready to feel this yet, but what a unique honor it is to help someone cross over to peace. I am so glad you were there for him!
Be patient with yourself, allow yourself to mourn, make sure you get rest (even if you don't sleep). You need your strength for your own battle and your dad would be upset if you jeopardized that because of his passing.
Keep reminding yourself that your dad had a full & wonderful life and he's better off at peace now. It's time you get well so you can carry on his legacy.

Re: I miss my Dad
My Dad told me a story about my Mom. My Mom and Dad both went to Pacific in Forest Grove, where my great, great, great Grandmother founded that college. (Tabitha Brown)
Anyhow, Mom told him before they were dating, that the bible study group was going to the beach to do a campfire, and that he should come. He had a big crush on her, and was really excited, thinking she liked him! So,he hitch hiked all the way to the beach.... to find her with another boy!!! LOL What a brat!
I guess she played "hard to get" and then he gave up on her, and HE played hard to get!
I don't know... I keep thinking of all these stories he told me. I can't concentrate on anything else, today!

Re: I miss my Dad
Jennie:
The crying will stop but the missing him never will. I lost my dad in 1993 and my mom in 1999 and not a day goes by that I don't think of them. My dad and I never saw eye to eye on just about anything but even today I desperately want to sit down and have a long talk with him just to tell him how much I really admired him. The last words he said to me were, "You're a good son." I don't think that's true but I'm glad he thought so.
My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Jennie I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. My father passed away May 2008 and there are many times that I just miss him so much that I start to cry. It gets less and less as time goes on but there is that day every once and awhile that you just can't stop thinking about how much you miss him and want to just hear his voice or see his face one more time. I have had to accept that this is life and we all have to go sometime. It has made me take inventory on my life and what is REALLY important in the short time I have on this earth. I know it is hard now but for me I KNOW that he is in a better place then he was here. Cry...it is the natural thing and a good thing to do.

Jennie: The hard thing is the passing. The nice thing is that the good memories remain strong while the sad ones fade. But it takes time. Let the tears fall when they must, but have faith that the smiles at the good memories will eventually overcome them. Know your father is still with you, and always will be.

Re: I miss my Dad
What a wonderful tribute to your dad, Jen. You have such wonderful memories of great times with him. Those memories will carry you through.
I'm with you.. I can't imagine how I would have made it through the loss of my parents had it not been for my faith in God. My Savior, always with me, always faithful, full of Grace and Mercy. and most of all, never giving up on me.
I am praying for you and your family. Your dad, once again will have someone fine and fancy, your mom, on his arm, when he dines at the Lord's table..
I say, "God Bless you, Jen", but I can see he already has.
Don

I miss him already.
His passing was peaceful. He went after I told him the whole family was there and we'd be ok until he saw us all again in Heaven.
I was holding him and stroking his arm and it felt so loving.
It is the ones left behind that it is so hard on.
I'm on my way home to hug my dog.

Re: I miss my Dad
goose, I totally know how you feel about the fact that God is still with me, after all my bumbles. Amazing Grace, I'd call it!
One time someone gave me a picture of this bumbling, naughty angel and the giver said it reminded them of me. Yep! But, he still loves even me!
