OK I've been around a little while but this has to be told. Saturday, I took my fishing partner, his wife and my better half out of Ridgefield to Warrier Rock, Sand Island area. We had a great day, trolled plug cut herring most of the morning. I got a little bored and changed a rod over to a kwick fish. We were at the upper end of Sand Island heading down river c r side trolling, my partner is on the cell talking to someone "an ifisher" about this new boat that he's losing sleep over cause he wants it really bad. I see my wifes rod hit the sand so I wind up a little then I notice my rod bend down so I think OK we are in shallows or snagged. I grab and jerk I have a log no budging it. Just when I'm ready to say partner we have a problem put the kicker in reverse all hell breaks loose. We had already talked about the famous Chinese fire drill, had a little plan Joni was gonna run up the bow grab the net pass it over the top Julie was gonna stay at the controls to guide us with the fish and MY CALM PARTNER and I were gonna work the rods as well as Joni when she finished gettin the net.
Great plan except my calm partner is yacking about this new boat and too busy to get off the cell. My partner tells this ifisher that he may have to get off cause we may have a springer on while i'm doing my type A dance watching line leave my spool knowing we saw a seal take a springer off another boats rod earlier and yes I get excited really easy. My first springer ever! yes we got it to the boat, yes it was beauty, about 25 lbs and it was actually a pleasure releasing a native. my knees shook for an hour. My partner was able to help when I got it to the boat (course he finally got off the phone by then), he calmly said Jeff its a nat let me get the pliers and let him go, I didn't even think of pictures it all happened so fast. You know I really don't think it necessary to mention his name but I see he posted pictures of his new Pro Line on salty dogs.
In closing I want to say another great day on the river with great friends we have met thru iFish. Oh and Keith I'll help with fuel this weekend.
