Default The one that got away:(

For those of you who fish in Washington, the Puegot Sound is a great place to fish early for salmon. I was up there on sat and fishing on the Skok. We did well all day and caught and released many fish. The funny part of it began when we decided it was time to start targeting our keepers for the day. A couple of drifts and I had a fish on. Man! It tired me out! I played it for about 15 minutes up and down, down and up. Finally I got it to the shore after a great battle. I pulled it belong a log in the water to see if it was a fair hook. WOW! this thing was lite up like a Christmas tree. I slowly operated on it to find out which of the 12 or so hooks was mine( Which included a nice treble hook from the tribe), Finally paydirt! I found that one of the 3 hooks in its mouth was mine. I was so excited! This fish was a huge buck, probably around 35 lbs. So I proceeded to get up and take my nice catch to the beach for harvest. As I stepped over the log with my fish in my hands, my first step was much more than i has expected. All of the line that I had pulled off this fish was tangled around my feet. As I went face first in to the river, I thought hold on! As I splashed down it woke this sleeping monster up. He kicked loose the second we splashed down and ended up gently swimming away. As i frantically tried to untangle myself to grab him, he made one last splash in my face and swam back into the river not to be seen again.
Oh well theres always tomorrow.
