Default Alsea jaws, etc.

If anyone is interested in the central coast activities, I fished the Alsea jaws, as well as upriver on Saturday and Sunday. I didn't get a bump but a friend saw three caught up at Taylor's on Saturday. The water temp on the jaws Saturday was 46.5 degrees! A few have been boated in the Oakland's area but not many. My local friends haven't caught a fish on the jaws nor heard of one caught. It's early but something should be nosing in any time.

Hello TyeeTom,

Do you know how to get fishing info for Winchester Bay and/or the ocean out from there?

My extended family will be camping at Tahkenitch Lake and are planning on Salmon fishing & crabbing on Sat 8/24/02.

Skipper-Unfortunately, I don't have a great contact down there on a daily basis. I am thinking seriously of fishing W. Bay this weekend and a report would be nice. There is one guide I am familiar with and I think I might give him a call. My guess is that there is some pretty decent fishing on the jaws and inside too. There seems to always be some fatties hanging around the jaws and red can. If I get a report I will let you know...

You could give these guys a call. They'd probably share some info.

Skipper-I made a few phone calls and found out the fishing at Winchester Bay is worse than terrible. One charter made two trips yesterday and got one fish. Another had just come in this morning with zero fish. Water is very cold. Naturally, it changes daily but it's not very encouraging. Maybe I will stay north.

Wish I had the option of staying north, but I'm camping with my wife's family of 16 people in Tahkenitch Lake.

They say the Umpqua salmon fishing should turn on any time now.

Thanks all, for the help.
