Default Nehalem Bay

Fished Nehalem bay Thursday and Friday. Thursday managed to get 3 fish with the largest only 19# but, had the change at many more fish. By the end of the day thursday we had 14 bites. Friday only managed 2 fish with the largest being 14#. I don't see people doing much there while my boat at seems to have fish on all the time. One piece of advice is make sure your bait is close to the bottom.

How many kids/spouses have you sacrificed to the fish gods for that success??? I only had the one to offer, and they didn't seem to think that was enough!!!!

Where were you fishing? Jaws, wheeler, Nehalem? I'm taking my family to the coast next week, maybe with the afternoon tides Nehalem would be a better bet than the lower Columbia with the wind expected to be cranking. More info. please....

I was fishing Wheeler on the outgoing. Which most of the bites where on the outgoing tide. Then out to the Ocean for incoming, which was not that productive. Trolling blue label cutplug herring. The problem is it is really hard to find quality blue labels right now. I make about a two hour round trip just for bait, but well worth it.
As for sacrifices, your life has to be geared to fishing. Learning, listening and most important pay attention. To many time I see people just being dysfuntional not taking care of their bait, not making sure their bait is spinning, not washing their hand after pumping up the gas ball.
If you see someone how is just dominating the fishery watch what they are doing.
If the are nice enough maybe they will teach you a thing or two. I'll be the first one to help someone out. I love seeing people get excited about landing a hawg, most off all kids and women.

I thought maybe thats where you were. I heard that there were fish being caught at Wheeler.
Yes i agree on the things you need to do to help yourself catch fish. Have you ever tried toothpaste to clean the scent from your hands. It realy works well. After doing so then spread a little scent on the hands prior to handling the herring. I also keep them off of the bottom of the boat. If they are not in the water they are in the playmate. Its the little thngs that count. Thanks for the response. Maybe we will run into each other some day. I have a 16 ft Sylvan with a rolled up blue top. If you see me give a holler. I did not see one ifish sticker on the bay wed and thur.
