So, is there any restrictions reguarding catching silvers in the ocean and then fishing at buoy 10? (assuming you don't have limits) thanks, HJ

HawgJaw -
That isn't a problem. You can catch one clipped silver in the ocean and then get a Chinook inside. Just do yourself a big favor and don't try doing it the other way around!

Thanks MissB - Does this mean we don't have to worry about Angle running for gov?

Angle - Don't know if you saw this - same word from ODFW as Tackle time - I tried to call them earlier but it's been busy (probably everyone asking the same question!!).

Usually when a closure is announced it is mid-night that day. This is bull!!!!!

This definitely sucks. However, it's the statement of "closed August 11th" versus "closES August 11th" that separates the screws. August 11th begins at 12:01 am. And yes, there are going to be some happy "quota collectors" out there writing tickets like they are going out of style! Bummer deal as we would have said in the 70's!

Hey Trout teaser - It's worse than that. It isn't closed or closes, it's "will close" on the 11th. Here's the full sentance:

The ocean sport salmon fishery north of Tillamook Head will close to chinook harvest Sunday, Aug. 11, because the harvest limit will be reached, fishery managers decided.... to earn some extra money

hooo hoo  - Ok I added the last part - must be that State budget shortfall. The OSP will probably cover their and ODFW's 2002-2003 budget in one day at $300 a ticket. I'm not a big fan of Washington politics or there fish/game structure but at least when they said the 10th it was clear you ain't gettin no nookies on Sunday.

Ya I saw it...but it took a fraction of the time and effort to keep dialing Tackle Time. Glad we both got the same info.

Sunday: Bouy One or Bust!!

Default Clarification from ODFW on Ocean Chinook Clos

I just talked to Anne Pressentin Young with ODFW. She clarified that "close to chinook harvest Sunday, Aug. 11" means you can NOT keep a Chinook on Sunday the 11th. Of course since you can't fish at all in the ocean Fri/Sat, it was effectively shut down for nooks on Thurs, the day the decision was made (so why didn't they just say that (duh! ). The confusion over the date difference with Washington (they stated closer on the 10th) of course didn't help matters either.
ODFW is going to try and put out a clarification notice. I'm still bettin the cops are going to have a hay day
