What's in Prineville reservoir?
Headed over for the weekend. First time to Prineville. I got the campground all figured out, but, I don't know what kind of fish are in there. Anybody got some details to share? Also, someone told me some boatramps are shallow.....anything to be aware of? I tried the search function, but, found little.
Thanks!

Bullhead catfish, smallmouth bass, crappie and trout. Ask the folks at the store how they have been doing and where. They are happy to help.
Good luck.

Being raised in Redmond, I'm entitled to tell this joke:
How do Prineville mothers keep their daughters home on a Saturday night? Paint a cattle guard on the porch.
There are also LM bass; my best day was six bass that totaled 27-9.

rocks rocks and more rocks. Check out there little Prineville Museum. Its in an old bank on the main drag. Free although you may want to toss a buck in the jar. Lot's of neat stuff in a westen setting. My wife and daughter really liked it and it was a break from fishing for them ( )

I just may have to hit the Crooked one of the days for those Redsides. I've heard the trout fishery in the lake isn't so good anymore, I was hoping for a little insight.
I guess I won't be putting any bells on my catfish pole at night since it sounds like the town may show up thinking it's dinner time if a bell rings!

Re: What's in Prineville reservoir?
I only fished it twice and that was years ago but I've always wanted to get back over there. I'm talking about the tailwater fishery below the damn. Lots of nice sized, chunky red sides. We had fun on both spinners and flies. Not sure this is the right time of year though.

Re: What's in Prineville reservoir?
Isn't that were all the Ca boy's and Ca Girls live? Or is that Burns? Anyhoot, Take some cured eggs , hit the small streams after drying them on a rock for a while. Those redsides over there are great hitters. The eggs will "leather -up" and stay on the hook for a long time.
Be sure to read the regs. Some streams over there have restrictions on Redsides. There are alot of big Brook trout over there also. Tight Lines , Have fun, Tom

Re: What's in Prineville reservoir?
Call the resort at 541-447-7468 for the latest info. For bass I usta hit the mouths of Sand and Deer creek, bounce a jig'n'pig down the cliffs SW of the resort, run a broken-back Rapala and a spinnerbait in the coves, just standard bassin' tactics.
