Default My first native steely (PIC)

I got a lesson today in sidedrifting and native fish care and release from Grant Scheele of Amerman Guide Service. We had a great time. Grant is a great teacher. Very patient. Here is my first of the day. A
nice native hen. If I remember right it measured 36" length and 18" girth.

We hooked several more during the day and ended with this monster.

Thanks Grant! I can't wait to do it again.

Beautiful fish, but where did you pick up the neandrethal to your left? Maybe a plunk-shack outcast begging for a ride?

BTW, Salmonilla. I nominate your sig for best on IFISH. Cracks me up everytime I read it...

Hey, that last one looks like the one I caught in the CR today.

The little thing was so hungry it tried to inhale the treble hook on my Get Bent spinner. Poor little thing couldn't shut it's mouth. When I first saw it, before I got it to the boat, I thought it had swallowed the treble and it wasn't going to make it. When I got it to the boat I found that it had 2 of the hooks through the side and lower parts of it's mouth and the other part of the treble wasn't hooked just inside the mouth. I gently removed the hook and it swam away to grow up and come back another day.

Unfortunately I didn't think about taking a pic or checking for missing fins. But at least I can say I caught a steelhead today.

Oh yeah, mine was bigger.
