Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
How did you know that I am sitting here in a quandry about that?
It's been driving me nuts.
I am still trying to convince Bill to have it here, but he is afraid of all the work we do. He says it takes a week to get it ready.
I need help. If you all brought your own chairs, it would be helpful. Most of the work is rearanging and trying to get tables, etc, ready. Then there is the parking, and renting the porta potties, and... what else? Looking back, to me, I don't remember the work!
If we had it at the Kilchis park it would be fun. They have a covered area. We could also do a tackle swap if you wanted.
I wish we could have it in the thick of fall salmon fishing, so that those without boats could also fish on the banks, etc.
But then, the chance of rain is higher, and it's too cold to camp? Maybe?
If we had it at Fort Stevens state park, or across the street at that place, it would be fun.
I still like it at my house, though, because.... it's tradition!
What are your thoughts?
Jen

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
With the growth of this site.....not sure there is a place big enough for all...Missed the first one because of DUCK football. The second one was a blast and look forward to fishing and the BBQ. I would be willing to help set up and or prepare as I'm sure other's will pitch in.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Dont fret about it, pick a place and a time and they will come. Some wont be able to make it, but that is always true of anyday chosen.
Keep it at home, or take it on the road. Nobody will really care, it isnt about where.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
I've spent the morning on the phone.
Fort Stevens has one group spot and several individual spots. The one group spot holds 25, and is 60.00 No boats in this area possible. The boat towers would have to get individual spots.
I checked dates for Sept 7/8.
Individual camping people could join the group headquarters for dinner, but what would they do to insure gear not stolen if they have to be away from their boat?
KOA, a GREAT place to stay, has group spots, but their rates, individually are around 30 a night. This seems steep. I have to talk to April later about group discounts possible.
KOA is awesome, indoor pool, sauna, outdoor kitchens, covered areas for picnics... Great family spot and right across from bicycling area for families not fishing that day. Very centralized location with safer places for rigs/rods/boats.
Ideas?
Do you like Sept 6 and 7th or 14/15.
History fishing at these times? Anyone remember? I think it's still good.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
With 1500 registrations since the last Ifishstock, it would be helpful to know how many plan on attending.
How could I get a count?

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Jennie,
Why don't you have a registration with a cut off date. I'm not sure how the first one worked, but I think selling tickets would be a great idea. Use the proceeds for any help you need with the system (what a great way to raise some $$$). Just my 2 cents, but I am looking forword to whatever you do.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Jenn -
Check for 1500. If you can reserve that then you can always get smaller!
Even though Buoy 10 usually dies out by then as far as fisherpeople, we have actually had really good success there then. The silvers get bigger and hungry. But by then most of the chinook are gone and this year it is supposed to be chinook city. Then again, fish seem to be late...
Earlier has a better chance for weather. Later is probably better for fishing, at least in Tillamook, right? But then again, I thought this was fishstock! Who's fishing!?
Parking for boats and security are big essentials. Your count question is a classic catch 22 - Until you can say when where and how (and how much), people won't be able to 100% commit. Then there is the advertising, publicity, booking the guest speakers, - it just goes on and on!
Good luck!

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
OK let's see....
100 tickets, 2 dollars a piece....
That would be 200.00...
Nice!
100 tickets, 5 dollars apiece!
500 bucks!
100 tickets... 1000 dollars a piece!
One show.... GOODBYE!
Jennie goes to Belize!
No phone, no internet, no TV ... just sand and sun and water and fishes.
muahahahahaha

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Can bar view camp be used? They have extra parking for boats and good fishing in the bay at that time of year. I don't know if they have a group site big enough. I camped there a few weeks ago and liked it.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Jennie why not just post a poll to see who would seriously go? Just keep bumping it "to the top" for a week and see how many bites you get and go from there.
I would love to come and bring the family. My kids will want to know if there will be a mud pit at ifishstock, like at Woodstock 2.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
If there was interest in having the event closer to Portland and off Hwy 26 here is a great location that will accomodate everyone's needs.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
I'm kinda new to the ifish community. Can someone expand on this event. For whole family, or adults only?? (I have 4 kids). BBQ, swapping stories, etc..????? Thanks for any info.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
14/15th would be the best.. Anywhere you choose but if it is the previous weekend I have a long drive back from BC. Our Cruise to Alsaka ends on the 7th. I vote for the 14.15th.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Barview Park the 14th-15th sounds great. I've the park can handle a lot of rigs, and w/ Tillamook Bay Nooks, it gets my vote!!!

Fort Stevens on Sept 14/15 would be great, since we are already booked for two sites for our extended family.

Re: Jennie, Ifishstock?
Soozy and I will be there either weekend. I suggest that you request a donation of $10 or $20 a head to defray costs. And as I remember, we used to catch a bunch of chinook in T. Bay in September.

I like 14/15
(but I'm an ifish and T-Bay rookie so my vote shouldn't count for much).
