Default Where to buy fresh Tuna?

Gonna be in the Longbeach/Ilwaco area tomorrow (Thursday) and want to buy fresh tuna. Anyone know an outlet to purchase some? Is it even available on the north coast?

Don't know about up there, but I have purchased fresh whole tuna down on the docks in Astoria. Just take 11th st off of Hwy 101. I have paid anywhere from 25-50 cents a pound. I think the place was:

Fergus-Mcbarendse
80 11th Street Astoria, OR 97103
503-325-9592

Give them a call.

That's what I usually pay for tuna, It is the highest around But I think they have the best facility to assure Quality meat when it comes off the boat.

Thanks all. Sounds like it would be worth the short drive over the bridge to Astoria. You just cant beat home canned tuna.

Should be plenty around. A couple years ago they were selling for $1.00 per lb off a boat at Chinook.

Bought one in Westport two weeks ago for $1.75 per lb, about average this year I think.

Buck a pound is a pretty good price. Any less than that has been rejected from a cannery, since that's what the cannery's generally pay.

High quality bled and blast frozen albacore can fetch as much as 3K per ton, so a buck fitty for a bled fresh albie/lb still aint bad.
