Sturgeon Challenge Changed to 24th
Boys and girls, I have made calls to some of our favorit boat launches and to the river patrol on marine drive. 42 and Chinook landing are not usable period. 1/5 to 2 inches of ices are present at these locations. Freds marina is a disastor area with at least 1.5 inches of ice and it is not melting yet according to the store manager there today at 10:45 am.
So in concern for safety of all those that want to be involved I am calling it off for this weekend and reschedualing it for the 24th for those that wish to participate.
I appreciate all the suggestions and willingness to try to clear the ramps off but I think we need to be honest with ourselves and use judgement that everyone can live with.
There is still a BATON out there waiting for someone to take it home. It could be you.
I may try to go tomorrow if some of you want to take a crack at it and work a ramp up. Tacklebuster has a thread going regarding this so I wont steel his thunder. Take a look at that thread and decide if you want to participate.
Cheers and we will see ya next weekend if ya can.
Bernie

Thanks Bernie. I dont think any of us thought this weather would last this long. The "forecasters" are saying we could have another storm next week now.

Re: Sturgeon Challenge Changed to 24th
Bernie...
Taklebusters idea was a good one to prepare a boat ramp but that would have been one heck of a job not to mention the parking situation...
The 24th sounds much better as long as we don't get flooded...

You made the right call Bernie.
I just got back from the Marine Park ramp in Vancouver and it is a thick sheet of ice. Not worth the risk. See everybody on the 24.

The kewl thing about the 24th is that if the flooding prophecy comes to life than you don't have to use a boat ramp.

I guess I'll just have to go after some Steelies tomorrow.
I'll let you know if I can get the 24th off. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Re: Sturgeon Challenge Changed to 24th
Yes I knew when I saw Bernie's Sled setting in his driveway this morning that he wimped out  . Just a joke Bernie my man, you made a good call. I did have a chance to torture I mean talk to one of Bernie's boys. After tying him to a tree and throwing snow balls at him he refused to give me any of Bernie's secrets
I just hope he never finds out that I took his special rod from the shop, you all know the one he calls meat stick .

Everybody better get to building their ARKS. The way Bernie is picking dates I'm pretty sure that we're going to have a flood of Biblical proportions on the 24th.

Since we are putting it off, let's put it off until the Saturday after next. Next Saturday we have flip flop tides that stink for the morning fishery.
Anyone in favor?

Boy that was a close one. I thought it was going to be cancelled for good and I wouldn't get a chance to win that baton. I hope team cranky will be up for the 24th.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">We just happen to have some open stalls. Just tell Toni they're short legged hairless horses, she'll never know. Better hurry though- going to be a long swim across that creek if you wait to long.
In 1996 I helped the guy between you and me (Gephart) move his house into a u-haul truck. Cept for the grand piano- which we lifted up and set on 5 gallon buckets. The water filled his crawl space and stopped an inch from the bottom of the floor boards. He was there in 64 and said that one didn't even get to his barn let alone the house. 1996 was MUCH higher.

Re: Sturgeon Challenge Changed to 24th
Bernie I think a wise dicision has been made about not having it this weekend.
Either weekend works for me but the date should be posted early enough for people to reschedule there teams etc.
We will just have to wait to win it a week or two from now.

Re: Sturgeon Challenge Changed to 24th
Okay, still a go for the 24th. Teams may change a bit but that's okay. I put in a call to the Big GUY requesting more cooperative weather for that day and the days preceeding it. Gotta pray for precisely what ya want ya know.
Hope most everyone is in for the Challenge being reschedualed and all but it was necessary for the safety of all involved. Peace and Popcorn with no BATON please.
