Not a typical request
This is not a typical request, but it is meant with utmost sincerity.
My Dog, Belle, is in the animal hospital at this time, and I am not sure if she is going to be around too much longer. She had quit eating for the past few days, and yesterday morning was vomiting several times.
I got her into the Vet office yesterday afternoon, and after blood tests it revealed Chronic Renal Failure. Her BUN level was 150, and Creatnine was 7, these are WAY elevated. They are keeping her in the hospital for a couple of days of IV fluids, and meds to settle her stomach down for a rest.
This afternoon they are going to do Renal Ultrasound, and see if they can identify any reversible cause.
Belle is a 10y/o Finish Spitz retired Show dog. She has been a loving companion to me this past several years.
I am asking for prayers for Belle to improve enough to be able to come home on Thursday morning, and live a long comfortable life at home. IF God's will is for that to not happen, I ask for your prayers for ME to make the tough decision when that time comes.

Thank you both. Not long after I posted this request, I received a phone call from the Vet. They had completed the Renal Ultrasound, and it showed no pathology. Essentially a normal Ultrasound, though it is possible there could have been small unidentified problems they did not see.
So I am encouraged by this so far, and continuing to pray that she continues to improve.
The plan at this point is to continue her IV hydration, and meds, then repeat the lab work tomorrow and hope/pray that it is returning to normal ranges.
Please keep up the prayers, and hope that there is a good outcome in another 24 hours from now.

Re: Not a typical request
Well, Belle is going to get to come home tomorrow morning. The news is not good. After 48 hours of IV hydration, and attempting to flush her system, her BUN test has gone from 175 down to 135 range. Her Creatnine level went from 9 to 5, both of which are still entirely way too high. Her Phospherous level was in the area of 16 or so from what I recall him saying, again which was way too high.
She is eating small amounts occasionally, and from what the Vet said she is going to continue to deteriorate.
I am not sure how much longer she has, and know it is only a matter of time. I am asking for your prayers for me at this point, as I know that God will take care of Belle.

Re: Not a typical request
Nancy, I know how tough this will be. Add some chicken broth to her food and water. This will encourage her to eat/drink. I trust your vet told you how she'll do for the next few days. Enjoy her company as much as possible in the days ahead. Feel better that you are there with her, instead of 3 states over.
Please PM me your # if you'd like me to call.

Re: Not a typical request
Belle is now in God's arms, and at rest. I brought her home from the Hospital yesterday morning, and she again began throwing up. The Vet gave me a couple of injections to help it, and it did stop her from throwing up, but she would not eat ANYTHING. I even tried some oil from a jar of Tuna and she wouldn't even touch that. Her breathing became louder last night, and I think I heard every breath she made. I made the decision to let her land in God's out stretched arms last evening, and so I spent the entire evening with her, giving her special hugs, and love.
It has been the most difficult decision I've had to make as long as I can remember, but I know also that it was the right decision. There was no chance of her recovering, and I just could not stand the thought of her suffering.
I will get through this, with a lot of tears but I will get through it just the same.

Re: Not a typical request
Sorry Nancy. Think of it this way if you can, you got to spend a lot of really good time with your pet, but God called her home for an important reason - rest peacefully Belle!

Hugs nancy. We lost our lab on Christmas eve last year. Remembering the good times and trips will help. Take care and hugs from Salem.
