Association of North West Steelheaders
I was wondering how many people on ifish are members of ANWS? I know of at least one Charter member on ifish and that is Bill Hedlund.Bill has been a member since the beginning! I have been a member off and on since 1974. Along with Tillamook Anglers the Steelheaders are the strongest pro sportsman advocate groups in the state of Oregon. Your money is well spent by joining up! So sound off if you're a member and what chapter do you belong to.
I am VP of The Tualitan Valley Chapter located in Hillsboro.

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
Shane....
I agree with you 100%... This Organization is, for the most part, one of our largest lobbying groups advocating our rights as fisherman and women here in the Pacific NW. Most of you out there can't even imagine the time a few of these members dedicate to help us retain Water Access rights, our hatcheries, and so-on.
As I've said before...there is NO BETTER time to join this active Non-Profit Organization to help protect our fishing rights and heritage.

A big thumbs up to NW Steelheaders, Tillamook Anglers, and also, a big thumbs up to Phil Donovan, the lobbyist.
He's awesome!

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
The ANWS have been around a long time, and do a great job. Tillamook Anglers work with them and many other groups, encluding the Multnomah Anglers. We all work for the same cause. Join any of the groups and you can't go wrong. Tillamook Angler members get a l0% discount at Tillamook Sporting Goods, in Tillamook, just show your member ship card. Jerry

TV chapter member for 3yrs, great group of people. A lot of worthwhile activities that really show everyone, just how dedicated we are to the sport, and environment. Everyone should at the very least attend a meeting with there local chapter and check it out. I gaurantee you will enjoy yourself.

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
Proud to be a ANWS member for 10-plus years.
A prior post said - "Tillamook Angler members get a l0% discount at Tillamook Sporting Goods, in Tillamook" -- Isn't this the store whose owner has been posting (no anchoring!!)publically owned tidewater on the Trask above the 5th Street Bridge?
Did he finally realize his error or did DSL crack down? Last I heard the signs were still up..

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
TV chapter here. Great way to learn new ways to fish and new people to fish with.
Had some great trips and events too - fishalongs, canoeing on the Tualitan with family, habitat work, Children's programs....

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
You know, for as many fishing people that follow this BB there sure aren't very many that are stating they belong to this organization. I know that not all people who do belong have responded but come on people, this is a great organization that works very hard for our fishing rights and habitat. $30 a year, tax deductable and worth every penny of it. I just joined myself a few months ago and can't believe the wealth of information and satifaction I've recieved in this very short time. I have met some very knowledgable individuals and have started to form some new friendships with some wonderful individuals as well. Come on people, pony up and get involved, it's a wonderful organization. Here's their website if your interested www.nwsteelheaders.org you won't regret it.
Sorry Jenny if this sounds like an advertisement............but it is................kinda.

Re: Association of North West Steelheaders
I was talking to a fellow fisherman that I see on the Clackamas regularly and as he gets there before I do he tells me how it's going. He fishes all the time as he is retired. He has one on the bank in the bushes and we get into a discussion about lining fish etc, and he tells me he is on his Fourth tag. Of course I quiz him about what he does with all those fish, but what I wonder more about is whether he is giving anything back to the sport/resource. Someone said, "It's better to give than to receive", and this guy has been on the receiving end of good fishing this year for sure. I'm going to ask him the next time I see him which sportfishing organization does he support. Got access?

Actually Steve is one of the hardest working members of the chapter. He handles all the door prizes and is one of the guys that puts together the Annual Youth Fishing Fair. You can always hear Steve on Tillamook Bay long before you see him.
We appreciate all your hard work though Steve (almost my brother-in-law)....really!
