Default Shark Fishing

I'm thinking it's about time to try some shark fishing for the first time in my boat. I've seen plenty of blues in these waters, and I suspect there are threshers as well. I know there are great whites and how to find them, but I just cant see going after something that big with my little plastic boat, let alone something that big that take a chunk out of it. So I'm wondering what species are pentyful locally (other than blues) as well as which are good to eat and which are not. Does anyone know??

I read a book many years ago. I think it was called "Captain Frank Mundus, Shark Hunter. He described all of the sharks he fished for on the west coast and techniques. He said there were only two species that were inedible, but I can't remember what they were. Maybe you can find the book at the library. It was excellent, but I am sure it is out of print by now.

Sands,Blues, and Threshers.I think. The blues don't eat as well as the others.Bring seriously heavy gear,a handgun to dispatch with, and post results here.Someone posted here about a 12' blue. After talking to a salty friend he is pretty sure that was a Thresher.Too big for a blue he figures.Good luck.
See you on the water.
Mark.
